Description

Benzaldehyde is commonly employed as a precursor to prepare various organic compounds, which are used as pharmaceuticals, dyes, perfumes, flavorings, photographic chemicals and plastic additives. It is used as solvent for oils and resins. Benzaldehyde is further used as a building block for a range of amino acids like phenylglycine, which is used as a side chain in various antibiotics. It is involved as a brightener in zinc electroplating processes, and as a food and fragrance additive. It is active intermediate for the manufacture of benzoic acid, odorants and flavoring chemicals.
