Methyl 3-bromopropionate was used in the synthesis of spiroanellated γ-lactones, pinacols and unprecedented 3-(1-hydroxycycloalkyl)-l-oxaspiro[n,m]alkan-2-ones. It can react with 2-Methyl-1H-benzoimidazole to get 1-(2-Methoxycarbonylethyl)-2-methylbenzimidazole.
This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand.
