Columbia CNA Aesculin Selective Agar / Brilliance™UTI Clarity Bi-plate

Accurately isolate and identify common microorganisms associated with Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) using Thermo Scientific™ Columbia CNA Aesculin Selective Agar / Brilliance™UTI Clarity, a single bi-plate which includes two separate formulations. Brilliance™ UTI Clarity does not require further confirmation of Escherichia coli, simplifying the workflow.

On one side of the plate, Columbia CNA Agar with Asculin isolates Gram-positive organisms from clinical samples with this selective microbiological medium traditionally used to identify staphylococci and streptococci because it provides clear hemolysis and typical growth for S. pneumoniae (dent morphology).

On the other side of the plate, Brilliance UTI Clarity Agar isolates, enumerates and identifies relevant pathogens causing urinary tract infections in 18 to 24 hours. It is a chromogenic medium which differentiates enterococci and Klebsiella spp. easily with distinct color targets which grow on an opaque background. The medium differentiates between coliforms and enterococci, and an improved TDA reaction aids the identification of Proteus, Morganella, and Providencia species. Direct identification of E.coli with no further confirmation step required. Chromogens in the formulation help identify key urinary pathogens through the production of distinctive diagnostic colors.
