Isolate and enumerate Yersinia enterocolitica from clinical specimens and food samples after 18 to 24 hours using Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Yersinia Agar /Yersinia Agar Biplate. Specifically developed for the optimum growth and recovery of Yersinia enterocolitica. The typical colonies of Yersinia enterocolitica will develop as a red bullseye surrounded by a transparent border and will vary considerably among serotypes in colony size, smoothness and the ratio of the border to center diameter. Save space in automated specimen processing to achieve greater throughput.
Yersinia enterocolitica is a bacterial species in the family Enterobacteriaceae that most often causes enterocolitis, acute diarrhea, terminal ileitis, mesenteric lymphadenitis, and pseudoappendicitis but, if it spreads systemically, can also result in fatal sepsis.
