Descripción

Nitrobenzene is used as a solvent and as a starting material in the organic synthesis for the preparation of aniline, benzidine, azobenzene, nitrosobenzene, phenylhydroxylamine and acetaminophen. It is also used as a solvent for electrophilic reagents in synthetic chemistry. Further, it is used to prevent the unpleasant odor in shoe, floor and metal polishes. It acts as a precursor to rubber chemicals, azo dyes and pharmaceuticals.

Aplicaciones
El nitrobenceno se utiliza como disolvente y como material de partida en la síntesis orgánica para la preparación de anilina, bencidina, azobenceno, nitrosobenceno, fenilhidroxilamina y acetaminofeno. También se utiliza como disolvente para reactivos electrófilos en química sintética. Además, se utiliza para prevenir el olor desagradable en zapatos, piso y pulimentos de metal. Actúa como precursor de los productos químicos de caucho, colorantes azoicos y productos farmacéuticos.

Solubilidad
Miscible con etanol, éter dietílico, acetona, benceno y disolventes orgánicos. Ligeramente miscible con agua y tetracloruro de carbono.

Notas
Incompatibles con agentes oxidantes fuertes, agentes reductores fuertes y bases fuertes.
