4-Dimethylaminobenzaldehyde is used to prepare colorful Schiff base adducts with amines, pyrroles and indoles. It is often used in the Ehrlich reaction, test for the presence of indoles in a sample containing alkaloids and determination of hydrazine.

Aplicaciones
El 4-dimetilaminobenzaldehído se utiliza para preparar aductos de base de Schiff coloridos con aminas, pirroles e indoles. Se utiliza a menudo en la reacción de Ehrlich, en la prueba para la presencia de indoles en una muestra que contiene alcaloides y en la determinación de hidracina.
