Descripción

Pyromellitic dianhydride is used as a monomer in the preparation of polyimide polymers such as kapton; thermoplastics such as polyesters, polyethers, plasticizers, and expoxy resins. It is involved in the preparation of high performance coatings due to its mechanical, thermal and oxidative stability properties. It acts as a curing agent for epoxy resins which find application in adhesives, coatings and molding powders. As an intermediate, it plays an important role in polyimide based materials like printed circuit boards, tape automated bonding and magnetic wire insulation.

Aplicaciones
El dianhídrido piromelítico se utiliza como monómero en la preparación de polímeros de poliimida, como Kapton; termoplásticos, como poliésteres, poliéteres, plastificadores y resinas expoxi. Participa en la preparación de recubrimientos de alto rendimiento debido a sus propiedades de estabilidad mecánica, térmica y oxidativa. Actúa como endurecedor de resinas epoxídicas que se pueden aplicar en adhesivos, recubrimientos y polvos de moldeo. Como intermediario, desempeña una labor fundamental en materiales basados en poliimida, como placas de circuito impreso, cinta de unión automatizada y aislamiento de cableado magnético.

Solubilidad
Soluble en dimetilsulfóxido, acetona, cloroformo, éter etílico, n-hexano y benceno.

Nota
Sensible a la humedad. Almacénese en lugar fresco. Mantenga el recipiente bien cerrado en un lugar seco y bien ventilado. Incompatible con alcoholes y agentes oxidantes fuertes.
