Barium chloride dihydrate is mainly used in the purification of brine solution in caustic chlorine plants, as a reagent in the test for sulfate ion in chemical lab, and as a cleansing agent in the production of other barium chemicals and lubricating oil additives. It is used in the production of molecular sieves, pigments, and paper coatings, and serves as a precursor to fabricate the doped barium zirconate.

Aplicaciones
El dihidrato de cloruro de bario se utiliza principalmente en la purificación de la solución de salmuera en plantas de cloro cáustico, como reactivo en el ensayo de iones de sulfato en laboratorios químicos, y como agente de limpieza en la producción de otros productos químicos de bario y aditivos de aceite lubricante. Se utiliza en la producción de tamices moleculares, pigmentos y revestimientos de papel, y sirve como precursor para fabricar el circonato de bario dopado.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua y metanol. Insoluble en etanol y acetato de etilo.
