Descripción

Tetra-n-butylammonium iodide is used as a catalyst for methylation and benzylation of alcohols with dimethyl sulfate and benzyl bromide respectively. It is a useful source of iodide anion and involved in the preparation of neopentyl iodides from the triflates. It is also used in the preparation of novel quaternary amines, which serve as an antibacterial agent in the rise of drug-resistant bacteria. It acts as a phosphonium reversible inhibitors of cholinesterases. It is associated with boron trifluoride diethyl¬ etherate and used in the cleavage of ethers.

Aplicaciones
El yoduro de tetra-n-butilamonio se utiliza como catalizador para la metilación y la bencilación de alcoholes con sulfato de dimetilo y bromuro de bencilo, respectivamente. Es una fuente útil de anión de yoduro y participa en la preparación de yoduros de neopentilo de triflatos. También se utiliza en la preparación de nuevas aminas cuaternarias, que sirven como agente antibacteriano en el aumento de bacterias resistentes a los medicamentos. Actúa como inhibidor de fosfonio reversible de colinesterasas. Se asocia con eterato dietilo¬ de trifluoruro de boro y se utiliza en la escisión de éteres.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua y metanol. Insoluble en benceno.

Notas
Sensible a la luz e higroscópico. Mantenga el recipiente bien cerrado en un lugar seco y bien ventilado. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes.
