Diphenyliodonium hexafluorophosphate is used as cationic photoinitiator and photoacid generator. It acts as a catalyst for the photochemical polymerization of various monomers. Further, it used as arylating reagent as well as an oxidant in organic synthesis.

Aplicaciones
El hexafluorofosfato de difeniliodonio se utiliza como fotoiniciador catiónico y generador fotoácido. Actúa como catalizador en la polimerización fotoquímica de varios monómeros. Además, se utiliza como reactivo de arilación, así como un oxidante en la síntesis orgánica.
Solubilidad
Soluble en tetrahidrofurano, acetato de etilo, metanol, acetonitrilo, dimetilformamida y carbonato de dimetilo. Poco soluble en cloroformo y diclorometano. Insoluble en pentanos, hexanos, tolueno y éter dietílico.
Notas
Sensible a la luz e higroscópico. Incompatible con ácidos fuertes.
