5-Bromo-3-indolyl-β-D-galactopyranoside is an α-galactosidase substrate which is converted to an insoluble indigo-blue chromophore darker than that released by X-GAL. It is ideal for Lac gene detection systems in immunoblotting, immunocytochemical, and histological applications. Also used as chromogenic substrate that is suitable for identification of lac-(+) bacterial colonies.

Aplicaciones
El 5-bromo-3-indolil-β-D-galactopiranósido es un sustrato α-galactosidasa que se convierte en un cromóforo insoluble de color azul índigo más oscuro que el liberado por X-GAL. Es ideal para sistemas de detección de genes Lac en aplicaciones de inmunotransferencia, inmunocitoquímica e histológica. También se utiliza como sustrato cromogénico adecuado para la identificación de colonias bacterianas lac-(+).

Solubilidad
Soluble en dimetilformamida (100 mg/ml), dimetilformamida/agua (1:1 v/v) (10 mg/ml - solución transparente, prácticamente incolora).

Notas
Almacenar en un congelador (–20 °C). Mantener el recipiente herméticamente cerrado. Almacenar lejos de agentes oxidantes.
