Description

Sodium pentacyanonitrosylferrate(III) dihydrate, is used as a vasodilator drug to reduce blood pressure. It is used as an analytical reagent for the detection of methyl ketones and amines. Further, it is used as a reference compound for the calibration of Mossbauer spectrometer. It is also used for chromatographic detection of peptides containing cystine. It finds application as a color reagent in the development of thin layer chromatography in combination with acetaldehyde. It is also used in presence of buffers as reagent for ketone strips, which is utilized to test ketone in the urine of a diabetic.
