Applications

Glycine may also be used to maintain osmotic pressure, or as a component of other molecular biology buffers that are ion-dependent
Glycine is used in molecular biology as a buffer component for gel electrophoresis; the ability of glycine to adopt a negative charge at higher pH makes it ideal for separating proteins in the stacking layer
