Applied Biosystems Diomni Software is an advanced, browser-based application designed to digitally integrate real-time PCR (qPCR) systems. It supports the planning of an extraction run, running of a qPCR test, reviewing of interpretive results and QC checks, and releasing of reports. Diomni Software can be deployed on a local network to enable centralized data management and role-based access.

Purchase includes an Enterprise license that unlocks additional features. This license must be renewed at the end of the licensing period to maintain access to the Enterprise features.

Features of Diomni Software include:

  • Advanced results interpretation capabilities
    • Comprehensive automated quality control (QC) checks
    • Integrated sample and reagent tracking library
    • Connectivity to laboratory information systems (LIS) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS) for efficient test order reception and result transmission
  • Connect and start runs on the QuantStudio 7 Pro and QuantStudio 5 real-time PCR systems and receive results automatically after run completion
  • Import legacy run files from other Applied Biosystems real-time PCR instruments to view results and apply interpretation rules
  • Scalable user management supporting an unlimited number of users
  • Enhanced data management and workflow optimization tools, including automated QC checks, sample tracking, and LIS/LIMS integration
  • Support for users to maintain compliance to 21 CRF part 11 with the SAE administrator console software

Advanced run templates for standardized testing

Diomni Software offers advanced run templates (ADF) that significantly enhance standardization and reduce user errors across multiple sites and laboratories. These templates allow for the locking of test parameters, ensuring consistency among various users.

The software supports a wide range of applications, including presence/absence, standard curve, relative quantification, melt, and genotyping. Furthermore, the system allows for the configuration of results interpretation rules, enabling precise sample result determination. Advanced options such as delta Cq for grouped targets in presence/absence tests, definition of Cq ranges for grey zones, and quality control settings based on curve quality provide users with comprehensive analytical capabilities.

Centralized installation for efficient fleet management

The Diomni Software installation process is designed for optimal efficiency and accessibility. A one-time on-site setup in a central location on a local area network (LAN) enables seamless fleet management. This configuration allows users to initiate qPCR runs on multiple networked instruments simultaneously. Notably, there is no limitation on the number of networked users who can access the shared database across the lab network, facilitating collaborative research and streamlined operations.

Comprehensive workflow support

Diomni Software provides extensive workflow support, guiding users through every stage of the experimental process. The software assists in planning extraction runs, executing qPCR tests, reviewing interpretive results and quality control checks, and generating and releasing reports. This end-to-end support ensures a smooth and efficient experimental workflow, reducing the potential for errors and increasing overall productivity.

Enhanced functionality with internet connectivity

While Diomni Software operates effectively without an internet connection, additional features become available when connected. These include access to a reagent database for document downloads, automated license renewal, and the ability to contact remote technical support through Smart Help. For a comprehensive overview of configuration options, users are encouraged to refer to the connectivity brochure. This flexibility allows laboratories to tailor their setup according to their specific needs and security requirements.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Can I see the amplification plots in Diomni Software once a run starts?

No. The amplification plots will not display in real-time. During the run, you will see the instrument status and the run time remaining on the experiment.

Can I prevent a user from omitting wells from a completed run in Diomni Software?

No, this is not supported with the current release of Diomni Software.

Find additional tips, troubleshooting help, and resources within our Real-Time PCR and Digital PCR Instruments Support Center.

When using Diomni Software with the Presence/Absence application, why are the results colored with red used for positive and green for negative?

Red is used to display positive test results in the Presence/Absence application because molecular diagnostic tests routinely screen for pathogens. The red is used as a warning flag to draw attention to a positive test result.

Where and when can I use a barcode scanner to input reagent information with Diomni Software?

An external barcode scanner acts as a keyboard emulator and can be used to enter sample IDs, plate IDs, and reagents. Thermo Fisher Scientific reagent barcodes are designed to allow population of reagent name and part number when setting up an extraction or qPCR run. The user may enter lot number and expiration date manually.

Can I use expired reagents with Diomni Enterprise Software RUO? Will expired reagents be flagged?

In Diomni Enterprise RUO Software, expired reagents will display a warning in the RUO workspace for extraction and qPCR runs and will be noted on the report if reagent information is included.
