Electroplating of platinum, manufacturing of platinum spongeAmmonium hexachloroplatinate(IV) is used in electroplating of platinum and to make spongy platinum. It reacts with copper(II) acetate and hydrogen sulfide to prepare Cu₂Pt^IIPt₃^IVS₈ which finds application in diamagnetic materials and semiconductors. It is also used in platinum plating. Further, it acts as an analytical reagent.
