Thermo Scientific™ SureSTART™ 300 μL Glass Crimp-Top Vials with Fixed Insert (Level 3) are the premier choice for high-sensitivity LC-MS and GC-MS workflows when working with small sample volumes (<2 mL).

The fixed glass insert provides a total volume of 300 μL (0.3 mL) with a usable volume of 250 μL and a residual volume of ~4 μL. The vials deliver reproducible results and exceptional sample protection for demanding applications.

Made with high-purity clear or amber glass, these vials contain the lowest metal content, extractables, and leachables – critical for meeting US, EU, and JPN Pharmacopeia standards. Also ensures consistent sensitivity and selectivity across HRAM (high resolution accurate mass) instruments including Thermo Scientific™ LC and GC Orbitrap™ MS systems. Combine with Thermo Scientific™ SureSTART™ 11 mm crimp caps and septa, to ensure optimal performance.

Key Features

  • 12 x 32 mm standard vial with fixed 300 μL insert (0.3 mL total volume)
  • Provides 250 μL usable volume and ~4 μL residual volume
  • Available in clear and amber glass
  • For a secure, leak-free seal, pair with SureSTART™ 11 mm crimp caps and septa
  • Use Thermo Scientific™ manual or electronic crimpers and decrimpers to seal and remove your crimp caps
  • Write on patch for sample labeling and tracking

Performance Level 3 — for High-Sensitivity Applications

  • Identified by three waves on the vial
  • Meets US, EU, and JPN Pharmacopeia requirements
  • Contain the lowest levels of extractable metals and leachables
  • Ideal for GC, LC, and MS applications, including Thermo Scientific™ LC and GC Orbitrap™ MS systems and other HRAM instruments
  • Supports workflows that demand consistent sensitivity and selectivity

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What are SureSTART fixed insert vials?

During manufacture, the outer vial has a glass micro-insert precisely positioned inside and this is permanently fused to the base of the outer vial. This gives a 12 mm x 32 mm microvial with a capacity of 350 µL with a narrow reservoir with <10 µL capacity. A fixed insert vial removes the need to assemble a vial and insert prior to use.

What are SureSTART microvials?

Microvials are suitable for use when sample volume is limited or when you need to get maximum recovery from the vial. These vials allow small volumes to be sampled accurately by autosamplers with a recoverable volume of much less than 100 µL. High recovery, total recovery, and vials with fixed inserts are all classed as microvials.
