Legionella GVPC Agar (ISO) for Water Testing

Isolate Legionella from water samples using Thermo Scientific™ Legionella GVPC Agar (ISO) for Water Testing, a selective medium that conforms to ISO11731:20171 Water quality – Enumeration of Legionella and shows optimal recovery of Legionellaceae in short incubation periods from environmental samples.Save resources on QC testing with as the medium is membrane filter tested in accordance with ISO 11133:20142 and displays the batch number of the filters used on the Certificate of Analysis. Using the same filter batch with the medium for your water testing removes the need for in-house QC.

Legionella are aerobic, motile, nutritionally fastidious, pleomorphic, gram-negative rods that require special growth factors in culture media to grow. Legionella is commonly transmitted through aerosols generated from cooling towers of air-conditioning systems or by use of potable water from domestic hot-water installations, for example, showers. Legionella GVPC Agar (ISO) for Water Testing is a recommended  medium for the isolation of Legionella from water samples:

Legionella GVPC Agar (ISO) for Water Testing has been formulated for improved detection of sensitive strains like L. anisa, and for inhibition of contaminating flora including E. coli and Enterococcus faecaliswhich if not suppressed can over-grow the target and result in a false-negative result being reported.
