Designed for superspeed and large capacity centrifuge performance up to 20,584 x g, the Thermo Scientific™ Sorvall™ high-performance 1 liter centrifuge bottle boosts productivity, and the new high-strength aluminum cap enhances bottle support and improves chemical resistance to Phenol solutions.

Designed for use with Thermo Scientific™ Sorvall™ superspeed and large capacity centrifuges with Thermo Scientific™ Fiberlite™ 1-liter rotors, Sorvall high performance 1 liter centrifuge bottles provide:

  • One full liter in each bottle at g-forces up to 20,584 x g
  • When compared with Noryl™ plastic caps, the high-strength aluminum cap
    • Enhances bottle support
    • Improves chemical resistance to Phenol solutions

These bottles are available in both polypropylene copolymer (PPCO) bottles designed for excellent chemical resistance and are autoclavable or polycarbonate (PC) bottles designed for excellent clarity.

Maximum RCF

  • 17,568 x g (with Thermo Scientific Fiberlite F9-6x1000 LEX rotor in the Thermo Scientific Sorvall LYNX 6000 superspeed centrifuge)
  • 20,584 x g (Thermo Scientific Fiberlite F10-4x1000 LEX rotor in the Sorvall LYNX 6000 or 4000 superspeed centrifuge)
  • 9,333 x g (Thermo Scientific Fiberlite F5-10x1000 LEX rotor in the Thermo Scientific Sorvall RC BIOS 10 centrifuge)
  • PPCO and PC bottles: Replace bottles and plugs by 50 cycles; Replace o-rings more frequently if needed

Autoclaving

  • Aluminum cap: 121°C for 20 minutes or 134°C for 3 minutes
  • NOTE: Do not autoclave bottles with closures engaged to prevent collapse of bottles when cooling.
  • NOTE: If autoclaved, PC bottles are weakened and their useful life is shortened.

1000mL superspeed bottles are a wearable part with a finite performance life. Bottles used with compatible samples would be expected to show physical signs of wear with repeated use. Remove bottles from use which show signs of wear, cracks, crazing, discoloration, yellowing, deformation, surface scratches, abrasions or chemical attack.

Cycle Life

  • Aluminum cap: 1000 cycles or 5 years (whichever comes first)
  • PPCO and PC bottles: Replace bottles and plugs by 50 cycles; Replace o-rings more frequently if needed

Autoclaving

Are the Nalgene PPCO media bottles/tubes able to be irradiated?

PPCO bottles/tubes are not recommended for sterilization by radiation. Polycarbonate bottles/tubes would be a suitable alternative if radiation sterilization is desired.
