Thermo Scientific Pierce SMPB is an amine-to-sulfhydryl crosslinker that contains NHS-ester and maleimide reactive groups at opposite ends of a medium-length aromatic spacer arm (11.6 angstroms).
Features of SMPB:
• Reactive groups: NHS ester and maleimide • Reactive towards: amino and sulfhydryl groups • Extended chain analog of MBS • Non-cleavable • Water-insoluble (dissolve first in DMF or DMSO) • Conjugates formed with SMPB are more stable in serum than SPDP conjugates

Covalent attachment of synthetic DNA to self-assembled monolayer films.
Authors:Chrisey LA, Lee GU, O'Ferrall CE
Journal:Nucleic Acids Res
PubMed ID:8760890
'The covalent attachment of thiol-modified DNA oligomers; to self-assembled monolayer silane films on fused silica and oxidized silicon substrates is described. A heterobifunctional crosslinking molecule bearing both thiol- and amino-reactive moieties was used to tether a DNA oligomer (modified at its terminus with a thiol group) to an aminosilane film ... Decorin is a novel antagonistic ligand of the Met receptor.
Authors:Goldoni S, Humphries A, Nyström A, Sattar S, Owens RT, McQuillan DJ, Ireton K, Iozzo RV
Journal:J Cell Biol
PubMed ID:19433454
'Decorin, a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan gene family, impedes tumor cell growth by down-regulating the epidermal growth factor receptor. Decorin has a complex binding repertoire, thus, we predicted that decorin would modulate the bioactivity of other tyrosine kinase receptors. We discovered that decorin binds directly and with high ... More
Dendritic cell-directed CTLA-4 engagement during pancreatic beta cell antigen presentation delays type 1 diabetes.
Authors:Karumuthil-Melethil S, Perez N, Li R, Prabhakar BS, Holterman MJ, Vasu C
Journal:J Immunol
PubMed ID:20483724
The levels of expression of alternatively spliced variants of CTLA-4 and insufficient CTLA-4 signaling have been implicated in type 1 diabetes. Hence, we hypothesized that increasing CTLA-4-specific ligand strength on autoantigen-presenting dendritic cells (DCs) can enhance ligation of CTLA-4 on T cells and lead to modulation of autoreactive T cell ... Visualizing dynamic cytoplasmic forces with a compliance-matched FRET sensor.
Authors:Meng F, Sachs F
Journal:J Cell Sci
PubMed ID:21172803
Mechanical forces are ubiquitous modulators of cell activity but little is known about the mechanical stresses in the cell. Genetically encoded FRET-based force sensors now allow the measurement of local stress in specific host proteins in vivo in real time. For a minimally invasive probe, we designed one with a ... More
