GeneMapper™ Software is a flexible fragment analysis software package that provides quality DNA sizing and allele calls for all Applied Biosystems™ genetic analyzers. This software is designed to support multi-application functionality, including analysis of amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP), loss of heterozygosity (LOH), microsatellites, and SNP genotyping.

Features include:
• Multi-user, client-server deployment (through Oracle 11g RDBMS)
• Increased data processing efficiency through remote auto-analysis and command line operation
• Security and audit features to help you meet 21CFR11 requirements
• Organize, manage, and batch-process your data with Report Manager and Database Dashboard

How can I import Project Information into GeneMapper Manager?

Go to the Tools menu and select GeneMapper Manager. Click on the tab for the file(s) you want to import. Click on Import at the bottom of the window and select the files to be imported. Note: Multiple projects can be selected for importing at one time, but all other tabs are one at a time. Once imported, the new files will appear in the list. When finished, click Done in the lower right corner.

How can I back up my data files for DNA sequencing and fragment analysis applications, with the following extension, .ab1 or .fsa, on the capillary electrophoresis instruments?

The location of the sample files, .ab1 or .fsa, will either be in the Runs folder (D:/AppliedBio/310/Runs) on the ABI PRISM 310 Genetic Analyzer system or it will be determined by the Results Group in the Data Collection Software on the multi-capillary platforms. If you do not know where that location is, you can go to the Data Collection Software for your instrument and go to the Results Group section (top left corner in Unified Data Collection; for 3500 Data Collection, go to Library and in the Manage section, select Results Group), open the Results Group, and check the Sample File Folder location.
Save the files to the storage media of your choice (CD, DVD, network drive, flash drive).

How can I set up auto-analysis for data in GeneMapper with the 3500 Data Collection Software version 3.x?

Beginning with 3500 Data Collection Software version 3, the 3500 Data Collection Software does not support automatic secondary analysis. This is also indicated in the software release notes. To perform secondary data analysis, you will need to manually import the .fsa file into the GeneMapper software. For optimal performance, we recommend that you install the GeneMapper Software on a stand-alone computer that is not part of the 3500 Genetic Analyzer system.
