Abstract
A novel role for nuclear factor-erythroid 2 in erythroid maturation by modulation of mitochondrial autophagy.
Authors:Gothwal M, Wehrle J, Aumann K, Zimmermann V, Gründer A, Pahl HL
Journal:Haematologica
PubMed ID:27479815
'We have recently demonstrated that the transcription factor nuclear factor-erythroid 2, which is critical for erythroid maturation and globin gene expression, plays an important role in the pathophysiology of myeloproliferative neoplasms. Myeloproliferative neoplasm patients display elevated levels of nuclear factor-erythroid 2 and transgenic mice overexpressing the transcription factor develop myeloproliferative ... More
Sirtuin-1 protects hair follicle stem cells from TNFa-mediated inflammatory stress via activating the MAPK-ERK-Mfn2 pathway.
Authors:Liu J, Xu Y, Wu Q, Ding Q, Fan W
Journal:Life Sci
PubMed ID:30292830
Stem cell transplantation is a promising tool to treat burn injuries. However, the inflammatory microenvironment in damaged skin limits the efficiency of stem cell-based therapy via poorly understood mechanisms. The aim of our study is to explore the contribution and mechanism of Sirtuin-1 (Sirt1) in TNFa-mediated inflammatory stress in hair ... More
Tanshinone IIA reduces SW837 colorectal cancer cell viability via the promotion of mitochondrial fission by activating JNK-Mff signaling pathways.
Authors:Jieensinue S, Zhu H, Li G, Dong K, Liang M, Li Y
Journal:BMC Cell Biol
PubMed ID:30253740
Mitochondrial homeostasis has been increasingly viewed as a potential target of cancer therapy, and mitochondrial fission is a novel regulator of mitochondrial function and apoptosis. The aim of our study was to determine the detailed role of mitochondrial fission in SW837 colorectal cancer cell viability, mobility and proliferation. In addition, ... More
Artesunate-induced mitophagy alters cellular redox status.
Authors:Zhang J, Sun X, Wang L, Wong YK, Lee YM, Zhou C, Wu G, Zhao T, Yang L, Lu L, Zhong J, Huang D, Wang J
Journal:Redox Biol
PubMed ID:30196190
Artesunate (ART) is a prominent anti-malarial with significant anti-cancer properties. Our previous studies showed that ART enhances lysosomal function and ferritin degradation, which was necessary for its anti-cancer properties. ART targeting to mitochondria also significantly improved its efficacy, but the effect of ART on mitophagy, an important cellular pathway that ... More
Ziram, a dithiocarbamate fungicide, exhibits pseudo-cytoprotective actions against oxidative stress in rat thymocytes: Possible environmental risks.
Authors:Kanemoto-Kataoka Y, Oyama K, Oyama TM, Ishibashi H, Oyama Y
Journal:Environ Res
PubMed ID:29028487
Ziram, a dithiocarbamate fungicide, protects various vegetables and fruits against infections by fungus. Recently, there have been increasing anxieties about the risks in the use of dithiocarbamate fungicides. Our previous studies showed that Zn ... More
