The PrioCHECK™ SVDV Antibody ELISA is an established test that has been successfully applied in the Dutch National Screening program for SVDV. It is the test of choice for the control of SVDV outbreaks in many European countries because of its proven high specificity and sensitivity. The sera are tested at a single dilution (1:5), incubations are carried out at room temperature, and test results are available within 3 hours. Together, these factors make the PrioCHECK™ SVDV Antibody ELISA simple, easy to automate, and therefore suitable for screening large numbers of serum samples.

Test procedure
The PrioCHECK™ SVDV Antibody ELISA is a competitive double antibody sandwich ELISA for the detection of specific antibodies against the Swine Vesicular Disease virus (SVDV) found in the serum and plasma of pigs. Plates are coated with anti-SVDV specific monoclonal antibodies to which an inactivated SVDV antigen is bound. The sample and the detection antibody (a monoclonal antibody labeled with an enzyme that generates a color signal) are then added. The SVDV-specific antibodies present in the test sample and the detection antibody compete for binding to the SVDV antigen. The signal is then measured and when no color is formed, antibodies in the sample have competed for the available viral protein. With this result, the sample is positive for SVDV.
