TaqMan™ MON89788 Quantification Kit

The Thermo Scientific™ TaqMan™ MON89788 Quantification Kit enables relative quantification of as little as 0.1% of MON89788 (Roundup Ready™ 2) transgenic soybeans with respect to total soya in a sample. The kit is ISO 9001 and 14001 compliant.

The absolute limit of quantification is 20 copies of DNA, and the detection limit of the PCR technique is 5 copies each of MON89788 and soya DNA.

The TaqMan™ MON89788 Quantification Kit includes:

• Primers and TaqMan™ probes for real-time PCR detection of:
  • The transgenic event characteristic of the soybean line MON89788
  • The endogenous soy gene, lectin
• MON89788 Standard, a plasmid DNA quantitation standard containing equimolar quantities of both MON89788 and lectin targets (1:1 ratio)
• Enzyme and other buffer components necessary for real-time PCR

The assay is compatible with Applied Biosystems™ QuantStudio 5™ and 7500 Fast real-time PCR systems.

Sample Preparation

DNA sample preparation is accomplished with the easy-to-use GMO Extraction Kit (Cat. No. 4466336). Using up to 20 g of sample rather than the smaller sample sizes accommodated by most other DNA isolation procedures minimizes sampling errors. The GMO Extraction Kit is compatible with raw and processed meat, as well as composite food samples.
