Rappaport-Vassiliadis (RV) Enrichment Broth (Bottled)

Selectively enrich Salmonella spp. from food and environmental samples with Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Rappaport-Vassiliadis (RV) Enrichment Broth ready prepared bottled medium. Rappaport-Vassiliadis (RV) Enrichment Broth selects for Salmonella species by exploiting their characteristics when compared with other Enterobacteriaceae, such as the ability to survive at relatively high osmotic pressure, multiply at relatively low pH values, be relatively more resistant to malachite green, and have relatively less demanding nutritional requirements¹.

Remove the need for autoclaving and with convenient, pre-filled and ready prepared bottles of Rappaport-Vassiliadis Enrichment Broth.

• Selective: malachite green, low pH and high magnesium chloride concentration inhibit many Gram-positive bacteria, while selectively enriching for salmonellae.
• Superior performance: superior performance to Selenite Enrichment Broth and Tetrathionate Broth for enrichment of salmonellae with the exception of Salmonella typhi¹.

It is important that the inoculum size used for enrichment culture in Rappaport- Vassiliadis Enrichment Broth is sufficiently small as not to interfere with its selectivity. Inoculum/broth ratios 1:100 to 1:2000 have been suggested²
