The Total Antioxidant Capacity (T-AOC) Colorimetric Assay Kit is a highly reliable and sensitive assay designed for the quantitative measurement of T-AOC in serum, plasma, whole blood, tissue, cells, and culture supernatant. T-AOC refers to the overall ability of a biological sample to counteract oxidative stress by neutralizing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and other harmful free radicals. It represents the cumulative effect of both enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants present in the sample.

The assay quantifies the ability of the sample to reduce ferric ions (Fe3+) to ferrous ions (Fe2+) using a phenanthroline substance. The resulting complex exhibits a characteristic absorbance at 520 nm, which is directly proportional to the T-AOC of the sample.
