Campylobacter C.A.T. Agar

Isolate thermophilic Campylobacter species and experience improved recovery of Camplyobacter upsaliensis from feces with ready-to-use Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Campylobacter C.A.T. Agar. Campylobacter C.A.T. Agar is a modification of the formulation described by Aspinall¹, in which blood has been replaced with charcoal, ferrous sulphate and sodium pyruvate. Comparative studies with blood-free and blood-containing selective media for campylobacters have shown that the blood-free, charcoal-containing media are superior to those containing blood, increasing the aerotolerance of these organisms.^2,3
