The Ion Reporter XL Server hosts a locally deployed instance of Ion Reporter Software, providing a secure, high-performance bioinformatics solution for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis. This platform combines optimized data analysis tools with increased speed, capacity, and reliability compared to the previous generation. Combined with the Ion Torrent NGS workflow, the Ion Reporter XL Server enables exceptional performance for large data generating research environments.

Features of the Ion Reporter XL Server include:

  • Accelerate analysis with enhanced processing power—dual 20-core CPUs enable fast computation for complex NGS workflows
  • Expand your data capacity—40 TB of usable storage offers adequate space for large projects and multi-sample studies
  • Increase memory and performance—256 GB of memory enables smooth analysis and efficiency for high-volume data processing
  • Enable automation from sample to report—integrates easily with Ion Torrent sequencers and Ion Reporter workflows for fully automated data transfer and analysis
  • Maintain data security and control—operate entirely within your laboratory network for compliant, controlled, and traceable analysis

The Ion Reporter XL Server is purpose-built to manage the increasing demands of modern genomics research. The updated architecture doubles both memory and storage compared to the previous model, offering the compute and capacity needed for larger chips, assays, and datasets.

When a sequencing run is initiated on an Ion Torrent sequencer, Ion Reporter workflows can be selected as part of the run plan, automatically transferring data to the server for analysis and annotation. This automated process helps minimize manual handling, reduce turnaround time, and helps ensure consistent, high-quality results.

Ion Reporter Software supports a variety of preconfigured workflows for applications including cancer, inherited disease, reproductive health, and infectious disease research. Users can also design or customize workflows to meet specific research needs.

All Ion Reporter Servers include a one-year software license and field installation, along with service and support to help ensure optimal performance from day one.

Bioinformatics designed for accuracy

Ion Reporter Software utilizes advanced algorithms for detecting SNPs, indels, CNVs, gene fusions, and aneuploidies in a single automated workflow. Each software release undergoes verification using control and clinical research samples to maintain consistency across versions.

By combining high-performance computing with robust informatics, the Ion Reporter XL Server enables reliable, reproducible analysis—helping researchers focus on scientific insights rather than infrastructure management.

Benefits of Ion Reporter Software

  • Automated, end-to-end workflows—perform read mapping, variant calling, and comprehensive annotation from more than 25 public and proprietary databases
  • Flexible, accurate analyses—choose from preconfigured workflows verified for accuracy and consistency, or customize your own to meet specific project requirements
  • Controlled, secure access—role-based logins, locked workflows, and audit logging help maintain a traceable and compliant analysis environment

Services and support

  • Service and support plans—comprehensive coverage to help maintain system uptime, instrument performance, and availability of critical systems
  • Training—instructor-led and self-paced courses designed to build proficiency in experimental design, data analysis, troubleshooting, and instrument operation
  • Bioinformatics support—tailored support for NGS informatics execution, software use, data interpretation, and downstream applications to help you achieve high-confidence results
