Características de SMPH:

• Grupos reactivos: Éster NHS y maleimida
• Reactivo hacia: grupos amino y sulfhidrilo
• Ligeramente más largo y más solubles que SMPB
• El éster NHS reacciona con aminas primarias a pH 7-9 y forma un enlace de amida estable
• La maleimida reacciona con grupos de -SH a pH 6,5-7,5 y forma un enlace de tioéter estable
• No escindible
• Insoluble en agua (disolver primero en DMF o DMSO)
