Vitronectin (VTN-N) is a recombinant human protein that offers a defined surface for feeder-free culture of human pluripotent stem cells (PSCs). When used with Essential 8 Medium (Cat. No. A1517001), vitronectin has been proven to maintain pluripotency and normal growth characteristics in multiple PSC lines. Vitronectin (VTN-N) has been shown to support PSC growth for >50 passages without any signs of karyotypic abnormalities and to maintain the ability of PSCs to differentiate into all three germ line lineages.
Vitronectin (VTN-N) is:
Optimized and defined surface
Unlike standard basement membrane extracts (BMEs), vitronectin (VTN-N) is based on the N-variant design of vitronectin from the laboratory of James Thomson for use with Essential 8 Medium. The vitronectin (VTN-N) variant has been shown to support human pluripotent stem cell attachment and survival better than wild type vitronectin. Vitronectin (VTN-N) helps provide an optimal environment for feeder-free pluripotent stem cell culture.
Reduced variability
Vitronectin (VTN-N) is a defined, recombinant human protein that reduces variability in your PSC cultures compared to human-plasma derived vitronectin and standard basement membrane extracts (BMEs).
Cost effective
When used with Essential 8 Medium, vitronectin (VTN-N) provides a cost effective, defined system for feeder free culture of human pluripotent stem cells (PSCs).
Commercialized in Partnership with Cellular Dynamics International.
