Esta única preparación de 5 isómeros de nuestro colorante patentado, aminorreactivo, ácido carboxílico Oregon Green 488, éster succinimidilo y sus conjugados tienen una fluorescencia verde similar a la de la fluoresceína, pero son más fotoestables. Además, el colorante Oregon Green 488 tiene una pKa menor que la fluoresceína (pKa = 4,7 versus 6,4 para la fluoresceína), lo que hace que este colorante brillante sea menos sensible al pH en el rango fisiológico.
