The LSI VetMAX Porcine Circovirus Type 2 Quantification Kit is a one-step qPCR kit for the detection and quantification of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2). Each viral DNA sample is analyzed in a single well where the DNA of PCV2 and the internal positive control (IPC) are specifically detected. The kit can be used on viral DNA extracted from whole blood, serum, organs, oral fluids, and nasal swabs. The results can be used to support herd health management and vaccination strategies and to confirm clinical cases. Technical support is available to help set up the test in the laboratory.

The LSI VetMAX PCV2 kit includes ready-to-use master mix and all detection reagents for the PCV2 target and controls, to help save ordering time. The kit works with Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast and QuantStudio 5 real-time PCR systems and has been validated for a number of sample types and sample extraction methods, including MagMAX and MagVet kits. The LSI VetMAX PCV2 kit is easy to use, enabling reliable and stable results, independent of the sample extraction method and thermocycler used.

PCV2 can cause respiratory clinical signs or reproductive failure. Subclinical infections of PCV2 can support the rise of other respiratory pathogens (like PRRS, SIV, or Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae) and diseases.

The LSI VetMAX Porcine Circovirus Type 2 Quantification Kit includes:

• A ready-to-use TaqMan PCR master mix, detection reagents for the PCV2 and IPC targets (including TaqMan probe-labeled FAM™-NQF and VIC™-TAMRA™), buffer, and real-time PCR enzyme

• Two controls, enabling validation of the extraction and the amplification of the viral DNA:
   --Quantification standard PCV2: plasma DNA ready for dilution to constitute the standard quantification range. The concentration of this standard is 1.0 x 10¹⁰ copies/mL. Amplification of the range during real-time PCR enables absolute quantification of the samples. For a qualitative application, amplify only the endpoint of the dilution range.
   --Internal positive control PCV2: exogenous internal positive control to be added to each sample and each control in the lysis step of the nucleic acid extraction, to help eliminate false negative results and verify inhibitor effect
