General Description

• Daptomycin is an antibiotic that activity against vancomycin-resistant gram-positive bacteria including enterococci and Staphylococcus aureus

Applications

• It has bactericidal activity against vancomycin-resistant gram-positive bacteria

• It can bind the bacterial cell membrane causing disruption of the membrane and increasing efflux of potassium ions from bacterial cells, disrupting protein, DNA, and RNA synthesis
