E E Broth (Bottled)

Enrich Enterobacteriaceae in the bacteriological examination of foods¹ and animal feed stuffs² with Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ EE Broth in ready prepared bottles. The presence of Brilliant Green and purified ox bile in the medium inhibit the presence of non-target Gram positive bacteria. The EE Broth is formulated to overcome the discrepancies that can arise when lactose-negative, anaerogenic lactose positive or late lactose fermenting Enterobacteria are present but are missed by the standard ‘coli-aerogenes’ tests. To overcome these problems lactose is replaced by the glucose in this media.

Use EE Broth for examination of food and animal feed samples for the presence of indicator groups such as Enterobacteriaceae. As well as providing evidence of food hygiene and safety, indicator groups provide a measure of food quality and spoilage potential.

• Selective: The medium is more inhibitory than other non-selective media, e.g. Mannitol broth or lactose broth, by virtue of the presence of brilliant green and bile salts in the preparation.
