Do you have instructions for using Boron nitride, Refractory Brushable Paint, BN 31%?
We recommend the following instructions during use of Boron nitride, Refactory Brushable Paint, 31%:
- Prepare the surface: Clean and dry the surface to make it free of grease, oil, loose scale or particles. If there is any cracking or pitting, repair the surface before coating. If the surface is very shiny and smooth, we recommend using a fine-grain sand paper to lightly roughen the surface.
- Mix the paint: Mix the paint thoroughly by shaking and stirring before use.
- Apply the paint using one of the following methods:
- Brushing: The coating should be applied in a series of layers and each layer should air dry completely before applying subsequent layers. Use a soft bristled brush with minimum brush action to prevent re-wetting and re-dispersion of the previous layer.
- Dipping: Only one layer should be applied by dipping. Therefore, adjust the consistency to get the maximum thickness. If peeling occurs, the paint should be diluted with water.
- Spraying: Use standard spraying equipment, such as Binks Model No. 7 spray gun, at approximately 50 psi. Use short bursts at a distance of 6 to 12 inches. Coating should be applied in a series of thin layers (approximately 0.001 inch) and each layer should air dry completely before applying subsequent layers.
- Cleaning up: Always clean air tools or brushes immediately in water after use. In some cases, boron nitride coating can become hard to remove when cleaning is postponed. Special cleaning attention should be given to gun orifices, needles, and hoses.
