Taurocholic acid, sodium salt hydrate is an anionic bile acid detergent synthesized from cholic acid
This compound shows a choleretic activity promoting the secretion of bile from the liver

Applications

Taurocholic acid is used in the emulsification of lipids/ fats
It is used for protein solubilization and in the preparation of digestive enzymes for research applications
It can be used to determine conjugated and unconjugated bile salts in serum and jejunal fluid
