Cyclopentene is used in the production of cyclopentene oxide, ketamine, cyclopentyl phenol (disinfectant), aldehyde and cyclopentene glycol. It acts as a monomer and is utilized for the synthesis of plastics and in various chemical syntheses. It is also used in the investigation of [2+2] cycloaddition of diamond (001) surfaces with alkene.
