The amine-reactive BODIPY™ FL STP ester produces electronically neutral dye conjugates that are spectrally similar to the negatively charged fluorescein dye. This dye's lack of ionic charge results in minimal effects on the isoelectric points of standard proteins conjugated with this fluorophore. The small size and relatively long excited-state lifetime of BODIPY™ FL dye has proven useful for studying ligand-receptor interaction by fluorescence polarization. In addition, BODIPY™ FL dye has little or no spectral overlap with longer-wavelength dyes such as tetramethylrhodamine and Texas Red™ dye, making it a useful green fluorophore for multicolor applications. The STP ester has higher water solubility than simple succinimidyl esters; the resulting dye conjugate is the same.

Abstract
A novel, environmentally friendly sodium lauryl ether sulfate-, cocamidopropyl betaine-, cocamide monoethanolamine-containing buffer for MEKC on microfluidic devices.
Authors:Hoeman KW, Culbertson CT,
Journal:Electrophoresis
PubMed ID:19130569
A new buffer has been developed for fast, high-efficiency separations of amino acids by MEKC. This buffer was more environmentally friendly than the most commonly used surfactant-containing buffers for MEKC separations. It used a commercially available dishwashing soap by Seventh Generation (Burlington, VT, USA), which contained three micelle-forming agents. The ... More
Detection of 100 aM fluorophores using a high-sensitivity on-chip CE system and transient isotachophoresis.
Authors:Jung B, Zhu Y, Santiago JG
Journal:Anal Chem
PubMed ID:17194159
We present a highly sensitive capillary electrophoresis (CE) assay that combines transient, single-interface on-chip isotachophoresis (ITP) and a laser-induced confocal fluorescence detection setup. We performed experimental parametric studies to show the effects of microscope objective specifications and intensity of excitation laser on optimization of a high-sensitivity on-chip CE detection system. ...
