2-(2-Pyridyl)benzimidazole is used as a chelating fluorescent ligand in the synthesis of cobalt(II) complex. It was also used in the preparation of (H(2)L(1))(2)[Ru(III)Cl(4)(CH(3)CN)(2)](2)[Ru(IV)Cl(4)(CH(3)CN)(2)]·2Cl·6H(2)O complex.

Applications
