Streptavidin Agarose is suitable for isolating biotinylated molecules and complexes with biotinylated components, including antibodies, antibody-antigen complexes, ligands and receptors, nucleic acids, and nucleic acid-protein complexes. It is especially useful as an immunoprecipitation reagent for antibodies that do not bind well to protein A. The matrix consists of streptavidin covalently attached to cross-linked 4% agarose beads through a 15-atom spacer arm. Streptavidin Agarose can bind 3 to 8 mg of biotinylated IgG/ml of gel.

常見問答集 (常見問題)

How many biotin binding-sites are there per streptavidin molecule?

Streptavidin is a protein composed of four identical subunits, each containing a high affinity binding site for biotin (K-D = 10 -15 M) . Streptavidin has the same biotin binding properties as avidin, but it has a low isoelectric point (pI=5) and no carbohydrate groups, resulting in low non-specific binding.

What is the binding capacity of streptavidin agarose?

The binding capacity of streptavidin agarose is 15-20 µg (18-24 nmoles) of fluorescein biotin per mL of sedimented gel.
