Lab Validation and Performance Requirements for the Analysis of PFAS Compounds in Drinking Water

Richard Jack, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Matthew MacLennan, Pacific Rim Laboratories will provide an overview of PFAS analysis using MS/MS for compliance monitoring methods and look at the requirements for the analysis of PFAS in water and soil.

          Attend the webinar and learn:

          • The mission and work being performed by Pacific Rim Laboratories for PFAS testing in water samples
          • Method compliance using EPA 537.1 using offline SPE followed by mass spectrometry quantification of PFAS compounds
          • Robust, sensitive, targeted mass spectrometry methods for confident quantitation of known PFAS compounds

          Who should attend?

          • Academic laboratories performing analytical chemistry research on emerging and existing environmental and food contaminants
          • State level or country level testing laboratories responsible for environmental and food safety in their region
          • Public water utilities or contract testing laboratories performing targeted PFAS testing

          About the presenters

Matthew MacLennan, Ph.D., Senior Scientist and Director of LC/MS, Pacific Rim Laboratories

Matthew MacLennan, Ph.D., Senior Scientist and Director of LC/MS, Pacific Rim Laboratories

Matthew is senior scientist and Director of LC/MS method development at Pacific Rim Laboratories in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. He has obtained ISO 17025 accreditation for PFAS testing in water and soil according to EPA 537.1 and ASTM methods. Matthew has 5 years’ experience analyzing complex contaminant mixtures such as naphthenic acids and oil sands process-affected water using capillary electrophoresis, TOFMS and Orbitrap MS, working in conjunction with Environment Canada. Matthew obtained his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
