Smooth Muscle Growth Supplement (SMGS) (Gibco™)

A sterile, concentrated (20X) solution intended for use with Medium 231 to culture human smooth muscle cells. Each 25 ml bottle of SMGS contains all of the growth factors, hormones, and tissue extracts necessary for the culture of human smooth muscle cells, and is the correct amount of supplement for a 500 ml bottle of basal Medium 231.

When a 500 ml bottle of medium is supplemented with SMGS, the final concentrations of the components in the supplemented medium are:

• Fetal bovine serum (4.9% v/v)
• Human basic fibroblast growth factor (2 ng/ml)
• Human epidermal growth factor (0.5 ng/ml)
• Heparin (5 ng/ml)
• Recombinant human insulin-like growth factor-I (2 µg/ml)
• BSA (0.2 µg/ml)

Low Serum Growth Supplement Kit (LSGS Kit) (Gibco™)

The LSGS Kit provides, in separate vials, all the components of complete LSGS (S-003-10): fetal bovine serum, hydrocortisone, human epidermal growth factor, and basic fibroblast growth factor/heparin (stabilized with BSA). A vial of gentamycin/amphotericin solution (GA) is also included. Use of GA is optional. When a 500 ml bottle of medium is supplemented with LSGS or the components of the LSGS Kit, the final concentrations of the components in the supplemented medium are:
• fetal bovine serum, 2% v/v
• hydrocortisone (1 µg/ml)
• human epidermal growth factor, 10 ng/ml
• basic fibroblast growth factor, 3 ng/ml
• heparin, 10 µg/ml

HuMEC Supplement Kit (Gibco™)

HuMEC Supplement Kit contains growth factors and other components and is designed to work with HuMEC Basal Serum-Free Medium (12753018). Together, these products are engineered specifically for the culture of human mammary epithelial cells (A10565). This translates to greater experimental validity, more reproducible results, and reduction of lot-to-lot variability and aberrations that can occur with the addition of serum. Human mammary epithelial cells cultured in HuMEC Medium have gene expression profiles consistent with normal mammary epithelial cells, as tested on a cDNA microarray.

Applications:
HuMEC Medium is optimized specifically for the growth of human mammary epithelial cells, and has been performance tested in a growth assay using normal human mammary epithelial cells. HuMEC Medium promotes superior growth of normal human mammary epithelial cells, making it ideal for researchers in breast cancer, drug discovery, and other aspects of breast biology.

Contents and Storage:
The HuMEC Supplement Kit includes 5 ml of a supplement mix containing epidermal growth factor, hydrocortisone, isoproterenol, transferrin, and insulin, and 25 mg of bovine pituitary extract. Store the supplement mix at -5°C to -20°C.

Smooth Muscle Differentiation Supplement (SMDS) (Gibco™)

A sterile, concentrated (100X) solution intended for use with Medium 231 to enhance differentiation of human smooth muscle cells. Each 5 ml bottle of SMDS contains the correct amount of differentiation supplement for a 500 ml bottle of Medium 231. When a 500 ml bottle of medium is supplemented with SMDS, the final concentrations of the components in the supplemented medium are:
• fetal bovine serum, 1% v/v
• heparin, 30 µg/ml

StemPro™ Neural Supplement (Gibco™)

Optimal proliferation of scarcily available neural stem and progenitor cells; proliferated cells retain their progenitor status and the potential to diferentiate into neurons and glias. Optimized and ready-to-use system removes the needs for media screening through “trial and error."

Due to their scarce availability, the in vitro expansion of human neural stem cells (NSC) and glial progenitor cells (GPC) has been a challenge to academic and clinical researchers. To address this challenge, we developed StemPro® Neural Supplement - an optimal, convenient, and cost-effective serum-free medium supplement for the proliferation of mammalian neural stem and progenitor cells cells, such as human and rat NSCs and GPCs. It can also be used, in combination with appropriate basal medium and growth factors, for the expansion of some neuronal progenitor cells. More importantly, proliferated cells retain their progenitor status and the potential to differentiate into neurons and glial cells.

In recent years, there has been an increased scientific interest in studying Neural Stem⁄Progenitor Cells due to their important roles in neurogenesis. Recent advances have also pointed to the potential use of Neural Stem⁄Progenitor Cells as effective therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, such as dopaminergic neural progenitor cells for Parkinson’s Disease, oligoprogenitor cells for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and multiple sclerosis (MS).

Microvascular Growth Supplement (MVGS) (Gibco™)

A sterile, concentrated (20X) solution intended for use with Medium 131 to culture human microvascular endothelial cells. Each 25 ml bottle of MVGS contains all of the growth factors, hormones, and tissue extracts necessary for the culture of human microvascular endothelial cells, and is the correct amount of supplement for a 500 ml bottle of Medium 131. When a 500 ml bottle of medium is supplemented with MVGS, the final concentrations of the components in the supplemented medium are:
• fetal bovine serum (4.9% v/v final concentration)
• hydrocortisone (1 µg/ml)
• human fibroblast growth factor (3 ng/ml)

Human Corneal Growth Supplement (HCGS) (Gibco™)

Human Corneal Growth Supplement (HCGS) is a sterile, concentrated (100×) solution intended for use with EpiLife® medium to culture human corneal epithelial cells. HCGS is an ionically-balanced supplement containing all of the growth factors, hormones, and tissue extracts necessary for the culture of human corneal epithelial cells, and is provided in the correct amount to supplement a 500 ml bottle of medium.

Human Melanocyte Growth Supplement-2, PMA-free (HMGS-2) (Gibco™)

A sterile, concentrated (100X) solution intended for use with Medium 254 or Medium 254CF to culture human epidermal melanocytes. Each 5ml bottle of HMGS-2 contains all of the growth factors, hormones, and tissue extracts necessary for the culture of human epidermal melanocytes and is the correct amount of supplement for a 500 ml bottle of medium.

When a 500 ml bottle of medium is supplemented with HMGS-2, the final concentrations of the components in the supplemented medium are:

• Fetal bovine serum (0.5%)
• Basic fibroblast growth factor (3 ng/ml)

Human Keratinocyte Growth Supplement Kit (HKGS Kit) (Gibco™)

A sterile set of solutions intended for use with EpiLife® medium or Medium 154 to culture human epidermal keratinocytes. The HKGS Kit provides, in separate vials, all the components of complete HKGS (S-001-5). A vial of gentamycin/amphotericin solution (GA) is also included. Use of GA is optional.

Dopaminergic Neuron Maturation Supplement (Gibco™)

Dopaminergic Neuron Maturation Supplement is a component of the Gibco™ PSC Dopaminergic Neuron Differentiation Kit that is also offered separately. It enables maturation of excess floor plate progenitor cells to midbrain dopaminergic neurons.

Low Serum Growth Supplement (LSGS) (Gibco™)

Supplement S7 is a sterile, concentrated (100X), ionically balanced solution intended for use as one component in a complete culture environment for human epidermal keratinocytes. Supplement S7 is chemically defined and animal origin-free. Each 5 ml bottle of Supplement S7 is the correct amount of supplement for a 500 ml bottle of EpiLife® basal medium.

Large Vessel Endothelial Supplement (LVES) (Gibco™)

Gibco® Large Vessel Endothelial Supplement (LVES) is a 50X, complete, ready-to-use media supplement optimized for use with Gibco® Medium 200 and Medium 200PRF for culture of primary human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC), human aortic endothelial cells (HAEC), and human pulmonary artery endothelial cells (HPAEC). This blended supplement has been designed to deliver optimal cell growth and to enable superior cell performance for angiogenesis applications, such as cell migration and tube formation. LVES contains fetal bovine serum, hydrocortisone, human epidermal growth factor, basic fibroblast growth factor, heparin, and ascorbic acid.

• Perform tube formation, cell invasion, cell migration, and cell proliferation functional assays
• Achieve superior growth rates of endothelial cells compared to low serum growth supplement (LSGS)
• Expand primary large vessel endothelial cells without genomic alteration

Maximum Primary Cell Growth with One Blended Supplement
Large Vessel Endothelial Supplement is a complete, ready-to-use blend of growth supplements optimized to deliver>4 x 104 HUVEC per cm2 when used with Medium 200 or Medium 200PRF. Cell phenotype is retained and verified positive for von Willebrand factor (vWf) and CD31, negative for a-actin, and positive for dil-Ac-LDL uptake via ICC.

Mammary Epithelial Growth Supplement (MEGS) (Gibco™)

A sterile, concentrated (100X) solution intended for use as one component in a complete culture environment for the growth of human mammary epithelial cells. Each 5 ml bottle of MEGS contains all of the growth factors, hormones, and tissue extracts necessary for the culture of mammary epithelial cells and is the correct amount of supplement for a 500 ml bottle of Medium 171.

When a 500 ml bottle of medium is supplemented with MEGS, the final concentrations of the components in the supplemented medium are:

• Bovine pituitary extract (BPE) (0.4% v/v)
• Recombinant human insulin-like growth factor-I (1 µg/ml)

Human Keratinocyte Growth Supplement (HKGS) (Gibco™)

Solution stérile concentrée (100X) destinée au milieu de culture EpiLife® ou au milieu Medium 154 pour la mise en culture de kératinocytes épidermiques humains. HKGS est un supplément ioniquement équilibré contenant un extrait pituitaire bovin (BPE), le facteur de croissance I humain recombinant apparenté à l’insuline, de l’hydrocortisone, de la transferrine bovine et le facteur de croissance épidermique humain.
