Pierce™ Centrifuge Columns, 5 mL (Thermo Scientific™)

Thermo Scientific Pierce Centrifuge Columns are convenient tools for handling 40 µL to 10 mL of an affinity support for purification.

Column details:

• Made from low protein binding polypropylene for compatibility with protein purification
• Total volume: 8 mL (5 mL resin bed, 3 mL reservoir)
• Resin volume: 5 mL
• Filter type, pore size: Polyethylene filter, ~30 µm pore size
• Receiver tube: Fits standard 15 mL conical centrifuge tubes
• Caps: Screw-top cap
• Twist-off bottom and press-on cap to reseal

Simply add the affinity resin to one of the polypropylene columns, remove the twist-off bottom and allow the resin to pack itself. Then add your sample and allow it to bind to the support and use a centrifuge to efficiently wash away any contaminants and elute your purified protein. Pierce Centrifuge Columns can be used in either spin or gravity-flow format. The spin format reduces sample processing time and makes column washing and elution more efficient. For gravity-flow procedures and when slow processing time is desired for binding steps with dilute samples, Column Extenders can be used to increase the column reservoir capacity. Use the any combination of processing techniques to get the best possible chromatography results.

Pierce™ Protein Concentrators PES, 10K MWCO, 0.5 mL (Thermo Scientific™)

Thermo Scientific Pierce Protein Concentrators PES are disposable ultrafiltration centrifugal devices with a polyethersulfone (PES) membrane for concentration, desalting and buffer exchange of biological samples. This product has a molecular-weight cutoff of 10K, and can be used for processing sample volumes up to 0.5 mL.

Features of Pierce Protein Concentrators PES:

Rapid protein concentration—sample concentration of 10- to 30-fold can be achieved in 10 minutes or less
Excellent protein recovery—unique design minimizes membrane fouling and provides high speed concentrations, even with particle laden solutions
Instrument-compatible—use standard microcentrifuge with fixed-angle rotors; collect and recover sample without invert spinning
Versatile—easy way to perform sample concentration, diafiltration or buffer-exchange of biological samples

For easy identification, the MWCO value is etched on the side of each device. To assist with sample addition and recovery, a clear window with graduations is located on the side of each device enabling visual determination of the retentate volume. The vertical design of the membrane allows high flux rates, low non-specific binding and negligible protein aggregation on the membrane and provides reliable and consistent results for processing sample volumes between 100 and 500 µL. Typical protein recovery is 90% when the mass of the proteins in the sample is at least two-fold greater than the MWCO of the device used. Sample concentration of 10- to 30-fold can be achieved within 10 minutes.

Pierce Protein Concentrators PES contain a membrane rated for retaining molecules with a molecular weight at least two-fold greater than the MWCO rating of the PES membrane within the device. Reduced recovery may occur when using a concentrator with molecules smaller than the recommended mass. Protein recovery will vary depending on the specific protein in the sample and its starting concentration. To achieve >90% recovery of protein, the minimum protein sample concentration should be 0.05 mg/mL.

Pierce Protein Concentrators PES allow accurate control of the dead-stop volume (15 µL) and final concentration factor, providing reliable and consistent sample processing. They can be used effectively at a maximum centrifugal force of 15,000 x g at room temperature. Centrifugal force, temperature and sample volume, concentration and viscosity affect filtration rate. Optimize centrifugal time for each application.

Thermo Scientific™ Pierce™ Protein Concentrators PES are disposable ultrafiltration centrifugal devices with a polyethersulfone (PES) membrane for concentration, desalting, and buffer exchange of biological samples. This product has a molecular weight cutoff (MWCO) of 30K and can be used for processing sample volumes ranging from 2 to 6 mL.

Features of Pierce Protein Concentrators PES:

• Rapid protein concentration—sample concentration of 10- to 30-fold can be achieved in 5 to 30 minutes for 10K MWCO (time may vary for a product with a different MWCO)
• Excellent protein recovery—typical protein recovery is >90%

Exosome Spin Columns (MW 3000) (Invitrogen™)

Exosome Spin Columns (MW 3000) enable fast removal of unincorporated dye from exosome labeling reactions. They also allow the user to perform buffer exchange on the exosomes or to remove any low molecular weight (MW ≤ 3000) admixtures from the exosome preparation such as salts, nucleotides, and short oligonucleotides.

• Fast, efficient removal of unincorporated dye from the labeled exosomes
• Buffer exchange, desalting, removal of low molecular weight contaminants
• Replaces more time-consuming purification methods (such as ultra-centrifugation)

To use, simply rehydrate the spin column, centrifuge to remove the interstitial fluid, add the exosome sample to the top of the column, and centrifuge again to elute the exosomes (low molecular weight contaminants will be retained by the column).

Thermo Scientific Pierce Cellulose Acetate Filter Spin Cups are convenient tools for manipulating small volumes of affinity supports (20 to 400 µL) for protein purification.
