Mini Blot Module (Invitrogen™)

The Mini Blot Module is a wet transfer device used exclusively with the Mini Gel Tank. The tank accommodates one blot module per chamber, or two blot modules total with the side-by-side layout. The Mini Blot Module is compatible with Novex® mini gels, NuPAGE® mini gels, and Bolt® Bis-Tris Plus gels. Each module accommodates one gel per wet transfer. The universal connection and molded gasket make the blot module easy to use, while the inner core of the blot module allows for use of less methanol-based transfer buffer per wet transfer. At the recommended conditions and constant voltage, proteins can be transferred to nitrocellulose or PVDF membranes typically in 30 to 60 minutes.

XCell II™ Blot Module (Invitrogen™)

The XCell II™ Blot Module allows you to easily transfer proteins or nucleic acids from mini-gels to membranes. It fits neatly into the XCell SureLock® and XCell II™ Mini-Cells in place of the gel/buffer core assembly. It requires less than 200 mL of transfer buffer for Western, Southern, and northern transfers. Tough platinized titanium and stainless steel electrodes create a uniform electrical field without clamps or hinged gel holders. Maximum blot size is 9 cm x 9 cm.

The iBind Western Device works exclusively with iBind Cards and the iBind Solution Kit or iBind Fluorescent Detection (FD) Solution Kit to process one mini-membrane for immunodetection. The iBind device provides automated convenience and superior reproducibility over traditional manual methods. Each solution is released from the iBind device wells to an iBind Card via SLF in ~2.5 hours. The glass fiber matrix of the card allows for homogenous and consistent flow of the solutions over the membrane, increasing the antigen-antibody interaction.

The iBind Flex Western Device is an automated western-processing device that performs every step from blocking to washes to antibody incubations via sequential lateral flow (SLF). SLF allows the timely release and flow of solutions and antibodies to the membrane without need of an external power source, shakers, or trays. Each solution is released from the iBind Flex device wells to an iBind Flex Card via SLF; the solutions are then wicked towards the stack region of the card. The glass fiber matrix of the card allows for homogenous and consistent flow of the solutions to the membrane, increasing the antigen-antibody interaction.

The iBind Flex western detection procedure minimizes hands-on time and is highly reproducible. Setup time is fast: within 2.5 h you are ready for the detection step. Compared to manual methods, the iBind Flex western system requires less primary antibody, enables reproducible results, and is compatible with downstream detection protocols.

How the iBlot 2 Dry Blotting System works
Buffer ion reservoirs are incorporated into the gel matrix of transfer stacks instead of buffer tanks or soaked papers. The high density of ions in the gel matrix enables rapid protein transfer. During blotting, the copper anode does not generate oxygen gas as a result of water electrolysis, reducing blot distortion (conventional protein transfer techniques, including wet, semi-wet, and semi-dry, use inert electrodes that generate oxygen). With the iBlot 2 Dry Blotting System, transfer time is reduced by the shortened distance between electrodes, high field strength, and high current. Trapped air bubbles, often created during the manual preparation of the blotting sandwich layers, are easy to avoid due to our unique de-bubbling design that promotes even and complete transfer. With the iBlot 2 system, there is no need to prepare buffers, pre-treat your gel, or clean up after blotting. The total preparation and run time is normally less than ten minutes per blot.
