HepExtend™ Media Kit (Gibco™)

The HepExtend™ Media Kit contains the new HepExtend Supplement (50X), as well as William's E Medium and Primary Hepatocyte Maintenance Supplement, providing the three components needed to optimize long term hepatocyte culture. HepExtend Supplement has been optimized for use with cryopreserved primary hepatocytes to improve cell viability, function and number of days in culture. This enables researchers to perform metabolic and toxicity experiments not achievable using standard culture conditions. Simply add the HepExtend Supplement and Primary Hepatocyte Maintenance Supplement to the William’s E Medium for a complete solution. The HepExtend supplement does not contain any small molecules or fetal bovine sera, components that are known to interfere with primary hepatocyte function.

Enabling—offers maximum cell viability and cell health when culturing primary plateable hepatocytes
Extended cell survival—days in culture can be extended to >10 days while maintaining normal cell morphology and bile canaliculi

Maintain P450 activity

Human Endothelial-SFM (Gibco™)

Human Endothelial-SFM is a basal serum-free growth medium developed to support the isolation and expansion of human umbilical venous and arterial endothelial cells (1–4). Medium requires supplementation with bFGF (20 ng/ml), EGF (10 ng/ml), and human plasma fibronectin (10 µg/ml). Contains L-glutamine.

Hepatocyte Thaw Medium (Gibco™)

Gibco® Hepatocyte Thaw Medium is a ready-to-use medium specifically designed for use with thawed cryopreserved hepatocytes to enhance their viability and overall quality. This medium is provided in a 50 mL conical tube for ease of use.

Features of Hepatocyte Thaw Medium:

• Easy to use—simply warm up to 37°C and add thawed hepatocytes
• Recover cryopreserved hepatocytes with a single centrifugation
• Designed for use with Gibco® human and animal cryopreserved hepatocytes for optimal results
• Provides high quality hepatocytes suitable for many in vitro assays, including induction, metabolic stability, and transporter assessments

Hepatocyte Thaw Medium is easy to use. Simply warm the tube of media to 37°C prior to thawing the cryopreserved hepatocytes. Once the medium is warm, thaw the cryopreserved hepatocytes per the Gibco® protocol. Once the hepatocytes are thawed, pour the cells directly into the pre-warmed tube of Hepatocyte Thaw Medium and centrifuge. Remove the supernatant and proceed with the next steps of your experiment. There is no need to centrifuge the hepatocytes a second time.

Macrophage-SFM (1X) (Gibco™)

Macrophage-SFM is a serum-free medium designed for the culture of human peripheral blood monocytes and macrophages (1).

Contains L-glutamine, but no antibiotics.

HepatoZYME-SFM (Gibco™)

Hepatozyme-SFM is a serum-free medium for the long-term maintenance of hepatocyte phenotypic expression, including active and inducible forms of cytochromes P450 and active phase II enzymes.

Contains no phenol red.

HuMEC Basal Serum-Free Medium (1X) (Gibco™)

HuMEC Basal Serum-Free Medium is designed to work with HuMEC Supplement Kit (SKU# 12755013). Together, these products are engineered specifically for the culture of human mammary epithelial cells (SKU# A10565). This translates to greater experimental validity, more reproducible results, and reduction of lot-to-lot variability and aberrations that can occur with the addition of serum. Human mammary epithelial cells cultured in HuMEC Medium have gene expression profiles consistent with normal mammary epithelial cells, as tested on a cDNA microarray.

Applications:
HuMEC Medium is optimized specifically for the growth of human mammary epithelial cells, and has been performance tested in a growth assay using normal human mammary epithelial cells. HuMEC Medium promotes superior growth of normal human mammary epithelial cells, making it ideal for researchers in breast cancer, drug discovery, and other aspects of breast biology.

Contents and Storage:
HuMEC Basal Serum Free Medium should be supplemented with HuMEC Supplement Kit. HuMEC Supplement Kit and HuMEC Basal Serum Free Media can be ordered together as HuMEC Ready Medium (SKU# 12752010). The HuMEC Supplement Kit includes 5 ml of a supplement mix containing epidermal growth factor, hydrocortisone, isoproterenol, transferrin, and insulin, and 25 mg of bovine pituitary extract. Store the basal medium at +2°C to +8°C.

CTS™ Opti-MEM™ I Medium

CTS Opti-MEM I Medium is an improved minimal essential medium (MEM) that is recommended for use with the CTS LV-MAX Transfection Kit as a complexation buffer. This medium contains insulin, transferrin, hypoxanthine, thymidine, and trace elements. CTS Opti-MEM I uses a sodium bicarbonate buffer system (2.4 g/L), and therefore requires a 5–10% CO2 environment to maintain physiological pH. The formulation of CTS Opti-MEM I is identical to research-grade Opti-MEM I Reduced Serum Medium.

CTS Opti-MEM I is xeno-free and contains human transferrin.
