GeneJET Plasmid Midiprep Kit (Thermo Scientific™)

Thermo Scientific GeneJET Plasmid Midiprep Kit, sufficient for 25 preps, is designed for large scale isolation of high quality plasmid DNA from recombinant E. coli cultures. The kit utilizes silica-based membrane technology in the form of convenient spin column. Each prep recovers up to 200 µg of high copy number plasmid DNA. The GMO Extraction Kit enables fast and easy purification of DNA for use in food safety testing for genetically modified organisms. Easy-DNA™ gDNA Purification Kit (Invitrogen™)

The Easy-DNA™ Kit is a fast and easy way to isolate high-quality, high-molecular weight genomic DNA (gDNA) from a wide range of cells and tissue types. Sample sizes can range from a single hair follicle up to 1 gram of mammalian tissue. Other samples tested include mouse tails, plant leaves, yeast, and E. coli cells. These samples yield high-quality DNA with an average size between 100 kb and 200 kb, which is suitable for PCR, DNA hybridization, genomic DNA library construction, and other applications. Advantages of the Easy-DNA™ Kit include:

Reliability—high-quality genomic DNA from large or small samples of cells, tissue, plant, yeast, E. coli, blood, and even hair follicles

Simple workflow, quality results
Optimized protocols for a variety of cell and tissue types are included in the instruction manual supplied with the kit. Generally, small-scale gDNA preparations are performed in microfuge tubes, in which samples are mixed with Lysis Solution and incubated at 65°C for 10 minutes. After extraction with chloroform (not included in kit), precipitation, and reconstitution of the DNA pellet, the preparation is complete. The kit contains a protein degradation reagent (for use with high-protein–containing samples such as connective tissue), mussel glycogen for use as a co-precipitant for dilute DNA samples, and an RNase solution.

PrepSEQ™ Express Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit (Applied Biosystems™)

The PrepSEQ® Express Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit contains pre-filled reagents and plastic tubes and tips to perform hands-free extraction of purified nucleic acid from 52 samples. The kit is designed for use on the AutoMate Express™ Nucleic Acid Extraction System, which is an easy-to-use benchtop instrument that enables hands-free automation of the nucleic acid extraction process for contaminant and impurity testing. Three-in-One Extraction of Cell Culture Contaminants
The PrepSEQ® Express™ kit can be used to perform nucleic acid extraction of the common contaminants for mammalian cell culture manufacturing, i.e., mycoplasmas, MMV, and vesiviruses (Figure 1). Flexible protocols are available to isolate DNA and RNA from a single organism, or a 3-in-1 surveillance panel protocol can simultaneously extract mycoplasma, MMV, and vesivirus nucleic acid from a single sample.

Quantitative Recovery for Residual DNA Applications

GeneJET RNA Purification Kit (Thermo Scientific™)

Thermo Scientific GeneJET RNA Purification Kit is a simple and efficient system for purification of total RNA from mammalian cultured cells, tissue, human blood cells, bacteria, and yeast.

The kit utilizes a silica-based membrane technology in the form of a convenient spin column, eliminating the need for tedious cesium chloride gradients, alcohol precipitation, or toxic phenol-chloroform extractions.

Pure, rapid mRNA isolation
The Dynabeads® mRNA Purification Kit contains magnetic beads for the isolation of the mRNA transcriptome from any total eukaryotic RNA preparation (see figure). Dynabeads® magnetic beads are uniform in size and highly mobile in solution (see figure). This enables the bead capture surface to quickly and continuously interact with the entire total RNA sample during the mRNA capture phase. The ribosomal RNA and small RNA molecules (transfer RNA, microRNA, small nucleolar RNA, and small cytoplasmic RNA) do not bind to the beads and are discarded. Only polyadenylated RNA species (mRNA) are captured resulting in cleaner, more sensitive results (see figure). Within about 15 minutes, pure mRNA is isolated and ready for use in downstream applications.

A straightforward enrichment procedure
The Dynabeads® mRNA Purification Kit uses a robust affinity purification principle for the enrichment of polyadenylated mRNA. Superparamagnetic Dynabeads®, coupled to oligo-(dT)25, are first equilibrated with Binding Buffer, and then mixed with purified total RNA. The beads are then washed to remove contaminating RNA species, and then mRNA is eluted in as little as 5 µL of 10 mM Tris-HCl. The entire process is facilitated by the use of a neodymium magnet (purchased separately), which allows for the quick and efficient immobilization of the magnetic beads during buffer changes. RNA is suitable for all downstream molecular applications, including:

The JetQuick™ Blood and Cell Culture DNA Maxiprep Kit is designed for rapid and efficient purification of genomic DNA (gDNA) from large volumes of blood, body fluids (amniotic fluid, saliva, sperm, lymph), and mammalian cells. It utilizes silica membrane-based technology that allows for isolation of 20-50 kb DNA that is suitable for a wide range of downstream applications, including PCR, restriction enzyme digestion, and Southern blotting.

The Ambion® RNAqueous®-96 Automated Kit is used for automated, phenol-free total RNA isolation from 100-500,000 cells or 0.1–1 mg tissue using a guanidinium-based lysis/denaturant and glass fiber filter separation technology. The kit contains enough reagents for 384 (4 x 96) RNA purifications. The RNAqueous®-96 Automated Kit uses an RNA-binding glass-fiber filter to provide high, reproducible yields of intact RNA. An optional on-the-filter DNase treatment can be performed to ensure removal of genomic DNA for RT-PCR applications.
