Max Bacterial Enhancement Reagent Invitrogen™

The Max Bacterial Enhancement Reagent is designed for use with TRIzol® Reagent to improve the isolation of intact total RNA up to 3-fold from Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The Max Bacterial Enhancement Reagent is a ready-to-use solution composed of chelating agents, detergent, and a buffer, and is used as an efficient pre-treatment buffer for bacterial cells prior to RNA isolation with TRIzol® Reagent. The use of Max Bacterial Enhancement Reagent with TRIzol® inactivates endogenous RNases and promotes protein denaturation, improving the RNA quality and integrity. The Max Bacterial Enhancement Reagent is available either separately or packaged with TRIzol as part of the TRIzol® Max™ Bacterial RNA Isolation Kit (Cat. No. 16096020 or 16096040).

MagMAX™ DNA Multi-Sample Ultra Kit (with extra proteinase K and DNA binding beads) Applied Biosystems™

Note: This product is identical to the MagMAX™ DNA Multi-Sample Ultra Kit (A25597) except that it comes with additional proteinase K and DNA Binding Beads, which some customers find useful for their specific applications.

Why purchase multiple purification kits to isolate gDNA from different sample types? The MagMAX™ DNA Multi-Sample Ultra Kit eliminates the headache of ordering these extra kits because it has been optimized for use with a variety of biological samples. The kit is designed for high-throughput isolation of gDNA from 1 buccal swab, 50 to 350 µL of whole blood, up to 400 µL urine (without sample concentration), up to 150 µL saliva, 1-5 mL mouth rinse, blood spot cards, and mammalian tissue samples (up to 10 mg). Magnetic beads offer many benefits compared to other technologies for isolating gDNA. Beads bind gDNA more efficiently than glass fiber filters, resulting in higher and more consistent gDNA yields. Additionally, because filters are not used, there is no risk of filter clogging due to cellular particulates in samples.

JetQuick™ Blood and Cell Culture DNA Maxiprep Kit Invitrogen™

The JetQuick™ Blood and Cell Culture DNA Maxiprep Kit is designed for rapid and efficient purification of genomic DNA (gDNA) from large volumes of blood, body fluids (amniotic fluid, saliva, sperm, lymph), and mammalian cells. It utilizes silica membrane-based technology that allows for isolation of 20-50 kb DNA that is suitable for a wide range of downstream applications, including PCR, restriction enzyme digestion, and Southern blotting.

Easy-DNA™ gDNA Purification Kit Invitrogen™

The Easy-DNA™ Kit is a fast and easy way to isolate high-quality, high-molecular weight genomic DNA (gDNA) from a wide range of cells and tissue types. Sample sizes can range from a single hair follicle up to 1 gram of mammalian tissue. Other samples tested include mouse tails, plant leaves, yeast, and E. coli cells. These samples yield high-quality DNA with an average size between 100 kb and 200 kb, which is suitable for PCR, DNA hybridization, genomic DNA library construction, and other applications. Advantages of the Easy-DNA™ Kit include:

Simple workflow, quality results
Optimized protocols for a variety of cell and tissue types are included in the instruction manual supplied with the kit. Generally, small-scale gDNA preparations are performed in microfuge tubes, in which samples are mixed with Lysis Solution and incubated at 65°C for 10 minutes. After extraction with chloroform (not included in kit), precipitation, and reconstitution of the DNA pellet, the preparation is complete. The kit contains a protein degradation reagent (for use with high-protein–containing samples such as connective tissue), mussel glycogen for use as a co-precipitant for dilute DNA samples, and an RNase solution.

GeneJET Plasmid Midiprep Kit Thermo Scientific™

Thermo Scientific GeneJET Plasmid Midiprep Kit, sufficient for 100 preps, is designed for large scale isolation of high quality plasmid DNA from recombinant E. coli cultures. The kit utilizes silica-based membrane technology in the form of convenient spin column. Each prep recovers up to 200 µg of high copy number plasmid DNA. Yeast DNA Extraction Kit Thermo Scientific™

Thermo Scientific Pierce Yeast DNA Extraction Reagent Kit utilizes Thermo Scientific Y-PER Reagent to quickly and easily lyse yeast cells to release DNA for study.

This kit provides greater yields than traditional methods for DNA isolation from yeast. Typically, extraction and purification of DNA from yeast are time-consuming and labor-intensive. The yeast proteinaceous cell wall is notoriously difficult to lyse and requires harsh treatments that are time-consuming and can damage the extracted DNA. Yeast DNA Extraction Kit protocol requires less than one hour to complete, is effective without enzymatic treatment or glass beads, and yields little to no RNA contamination regardless of RNase presence. In studies with Saccharomyces cerevisiae, high yields of genomic and plasmid DNA are consistently obtained. DNA purified using this kit is suitable for PCR amplification, bacterial transformations, restriction digestions and hybridization applications.

DNAzol™ Reagent, for isolation of genomic DNA from solid and liquid samples Invitrogen™

DNAzol® Reagent is a complete and ready-to-use organic reagent for the isolation of genomic DNA from solid and liquid samples of animal, plant, yeast, and bacterial origin. The DNAzol® Reagent procedure can be completed in typically 10–30 minutes with DNA recoveries of 70–100%. DNAzol® Reagent is:

Efficient isolation of genomic DNA from a variety of sample types
The DNAzol® Reagent procedure uses a novel guanidine-detergent lysing solution that permits selective precipitation of DNA from cell lysate. 1 mL of DNAzol® Reagent can be used to isolate genomic DNA from 1–3 x 107 cells, from 0.1 mL of whole blood, or from 25–50 mg tissue.

Rapid isolation and high recovery of genomic DNA
The DNAzol® Reagent combines reliability, efficiency, and simplicity in its DNA isolation protocol. During isolation, a biological sample is lysed (or homogenized) in DNAzol® Reagent, and the genomic DNA is then precipitated from the lysate with ethanol. Following an ethanol wash, DNA may be solubilized in either water or 8 mM NaOH. The entire procedure can be completed in 10–30 min with DNA recovery of 70–100%.

Isolated DNA can be used for a number of downstream applications
Genomic DNA extracted using the DNAzol® procedure is suitable for a variety of applications, including Southern blotting, cloning, PCR, restriction endonuclease digestion, and dot blot hybridization.

PureLink™ Pro 96 Viral RNA/DNA Purification Kit Invitrogen™

The PureLink® Pro 96 Viral RNA⁄DNA Purification Kit is the only 96-well silica plate system that can extract both viral RNA and DNA from 200-µl cell-free fluids which uses a low-depth 96-well centrifuge bucket for ease-of- use, all without any loss in sensitivity. These kits provide:

The PureLink® Pro 96 Viral RNA⁄DNA Purification Kit is based on conventional silica plate extraction chemistry. Cell-free samples are lysed in guanidine containing buffers that have been reformulated to increase the recovery and sensitivity of purified nucleic acids, while carrier RNA is used to protect samples from RNase degradation. Binding of lysates to the Viral Filter Plate can be performed with either a vacuum manifold or centrifugation using a 96-well rotor with buckets having a depth of only 5 cm. After washes with ethanol-based buffers, the viral RNA or DNA is eluted in 100 µl of RNase-free water. The RNA or DNA is ready to use in one-step or two-step RT-PCR and qRT-PCR, qPCR, or other enzymatic amplification procedures.

The PureLink® Pro 96 Viral RNA⁄DNA Purification Kit shows excellent well-to-well consistency
A critical requirement for any 96-well purification system is well-to-well consistency. When using a technique as sensitive as qRT-PCR for viral nucleic acid detection, which may exist as low viral titers from patient samples, consistency between samples becomes even more important. When well-to-well recovery of lentiviral RNA was analyzed using the PureLink® Pro 96 Viral RNA⁄DNA Purification Kit, consistent Ct values were obtained in qRT-PCR analyses while plasma controls run on the same plate were negative, showing no cross contamination (Figure 2).

Get the same results in a 96-plate extraction as you would with a spin column
To prove consistency of our novel purification chemistry in the both high- and low-throughout formats, Armored RNA® HCV virus was spiked in human plasma and 200 µl were used for viral nucleic acid purification with either the PureLink® Viral RNA⁄DNA Mini Kit (spin-column based purification) or with the PureLink® Pro 96 Viral RNA⁄DNA Purification Kit. The purified samples were analyzed for performance comparison using qRT-PCR. Both purification methods successfully demonstrated viral purification and detection as both purification profiles exhibited scalable qRT-PCR detection analysis profiles (Figure 3). The PureLink® Pro 96 Viral RNA⁄DNA Purification Kit provides sensitive linear scalable viral RNA⁄DNA purification with a sensitivity and efficiency equal to that of the spin column purification format.

Improved plate design
The PureLink® Pro Viral RNA⁄DNA purification kit provides optimized semi-skirted 96-well plates (Figure 4) for improved performance and results. In addition, the plate nozzles with annular collar prevent cross-contamination of samples and improve drying of the silica membrane to prevent ethanol carryover. In addition, sample processing can be performed manually using a benchtop vacuum manifold, by centrifugation (at 2250 x g), or with an automated liquid handling platform. The semi-skirted plate design is compatible with most vacuum manifolds on robotic workstations.

TRIzol® Reagent is a complete, ready-to-use reagent for the isolation of high-quality total RNA or the simultaneous isolation of RNA, DNA, and protein from a variety of biological samples. This monophasic solution of phenol and guanidine isothiocyanate is designed to isolate separate fractions of RNA, DNA, and proteins from cell and tissue samples of human, animal, plant, yeast, or bacterial origin, within one hour.

Formulated for isolation of multiple molecular targets
TRIzol® Reagent allows you to perform sequential precipitation of RNA, DNA, and proteins from a single sample. After homogenizing the sample with TRIzol® Reagent, chloroform is added, and the homogenate is allowed to separate into a clear upper aqueous layer (containing RNA), and interphase and red lower organic layers (containing the DNA and proteins). RNA is precipitated from the aqueous layer with isopropanol. DNA is precipitated from the interphase/organic layer with ethanol. Protein is precipitated from the phenol-ethanol supernatant by isopropanol precipitation. The precipitated RNA, DNA, or protein is washed to remove impurities, and then resuspended for use in downstream applications.
