NGF Recombinant Mouse Protein

Nerve growth factor (NGF), recombinant mouse protein is supplied as a lyophilized powder. It is suitable for use in performing cell based assays. It can also be used as a protein standard, or in other research applications.

This recombinant protein was expressed from a DNA sequence encoding the mature form of mouse NGF (NP_001106168.1), residues 122 to 241, with an initial Met at the N-terminus.

Activity: Measured in a cell proliferation assay using TF1 human erythroleukemic cells. The ED50 for this effec is 0.2-2.0 ng/ml.

Formulation: Lyophilized in 50 mM Na acetate buffer, pH 5.5, 150 mM NaCl, 5% Mannitol, 5% Trehalose, and 0.02% Tween 80.

Reconstitution: Dissolve the protein in sterile double distilled water to a concentration of 0.2 mg/ml or lower. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted and be used as soon as possible. Store aliquots under sterile conditions at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Expiration Date: Expires one year from date of receipt when stored as instructed.

EGF Recombinant Human Protein

Epidermal growth factor (EGF) recombinant human protein is supplied as a lyophilized powder. It is suitable for use in analysis of protein structure and performing cell based assays. It can also be used as an immunogen, as a protein standard, or in other research applications.

This recombinant protein was expressed from a DNA sequence encoding the mature form of human EGF (NP_001954.2) (Asn 971-Arg 1023) retaining the initial Met at the N-terminus.

N-terminal Sequence Analysis: Met 1

Activity: Measured in a cell proliferation assay using BALB/c 3T3 mouse embryonic fibroblasts (Rubin, J.S. et al. 1991, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 88:415.) . The EC50 for this effect is typically 20-100 pg/mL.

Formulation: Lyophilized in 140 mM NaCl, 2.7 mM KCl, 10 mM Na2HPO4, 1.8 mM KH2PO4, pH 7.4, 5% mannitol, 5% trehalose, 0.02% Tween®-80.

Background
Human epidermal growth factor (EGF) exerts actions on a wide variety of biological processes, and plays an important role in the regulation of cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation mediated by its high-affinity receptor EGFR on the cell surface. It induces differentiation of specific cells, promotes angiogenesis, and inhibits gastric acid secretion in vivo, while serves as a potent mitogenic actor for a variety of cultured cells of both ectodermal and mesodermal origin. Human EGF was originally isolated from urine based on its inhibitory effect on gastric secretion and named urogastrone accordingly. EGF is the founding member of the EGF-family of proteins which are characterized by the presence of at least one EGF structural unit (a conserved 6 cysteine motif that forms three disulfide bonds). The EGF precursor is believed to exist as a membrane-bound molecule containing 9 EGF units, and is proteolyticallycleaved to generate the 53-amino acid peptide hormone.

RANKL is a ligand for osteoprotegerin and functions as a key factor for osteoclast differentiation and activation.
