RBS™ 35 Concentrate (Thermo Scientific™)

Thermo Scientific RBS 35 Detergent Concentrate is a general cleaning agent for use on many laboratory surface materials and glassware, including lenses, mirrors, and reflectors.

Applications include the removal of:

• Coomassie blue dye from test tubes and quartz cuvettes
• Blood or serum residue from glass or plastic beakers and flasks
• Colored dyes from porcelain mortar and pestles
• HIV virus from glassware, tabletops and flooring
• Radioactive isotopes from benchtops and instrument surfaces

The cleaning detergent is a mixture of anionic and nonionic surfactants. RBS™ 35 Detergent is strong enough to remove biological residues from plastic and glass, yet it is fully biodegradable and rinses away thoroughly to leave no residue. Use a 2% (v/v) solution for routine washing applications or soaking in a warm 20% solution to free particularly stubborn dry residues. Mix two parts 2% RBS Detergent solution with one part ethyl alcohol to remove greases and oils.

Complete removal of all impurities and contaminants from glassware is a necessity for most laboratory applications. For many years, caustic alcohol and chromic acid solutions were used for many substances that could not be cleaned from glassware by ordinary detergents. These strongly acidic or strongly basic cleaning products reduce the lifespan of glassware while exposing the user to potential harm. By contrast, Thermo Scientific RBS 35 and PCC-54 Products are mildly basic, biodegradable, surfactant concentrates containing anionic and nonionic detergents. The surfactants clean by penetrating between contaminating substances and the surfaces to be cleaned. Glass, plastics, quartz, porcelain and ferrous metal apparatus can be cleaned safely and effectively in a 2% solution (v/v) of the concentrates or a 0.2% solution (w/v) of the solids. RBS 35 and PCC-54 Cleaners remove both organic and inorganic materials and metal ions from laboratory equipment. The detergents rinse away completely, leaving no residue.

UltraPure™ Phenol:Water (3.75:1, v/v) (Invitrogen™)

UltraPure™ Phenol:Water (3.75:1, v/v) is used in the purification of nucleic acids. This liquid reagent consists of UltraPure™ Phenol and highly pure deionized water. The reagent can be used to prepare different types of buffer-saturated phenol. When mixtures are extracted with buffer-saturated phenol, proteins are denatured and collect in the organic phase or at the interphase, while nucleic acids remain in the aqueous phase. UltraPure™ Phenol:Water (3.75:1, v/v) contains no preservatives. It is packaged under an inert gas in shatter-resistant, plastic-coated amber bottles.

Performance and Quality Testing: The appearance of the solution is evaluated at room temperature. No RNase or DNase activity detected.

EDTA (0.1 mM), pH 8.0, RNase-free (Invitrogen™)

Ambion® 0.1 mM EDTA is a commonly recommended storage solution for RNA samples. 0.1 mM EDTA is in nuclease-free, ultrapure water. It is provided in one bottle of 50 mL. The last step in every RNA isolation protocol is to resuspend the purified RNA pellet. After painstakingly isolating the RNA, it is crucial that the pellet be suspended and stored in a safe, RNase-free solution. 0.1 mM EDTA is prepared from the purest reagents available, under scrupulously monitored conditions in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. iPrPAC-dG Phosphoramidite, standard grade, serum vial bottle (Thermo Scientific™)

iPrPAC-dG CEP is a phosphoramidite containing 5' DMT and the nucleoside deoxyguanosine (dG) with Isopropylphenoxyacetyl (iPrPAC) base protection, for use in oligonucleotide synthesis. The UltraMILD monomers - phenoxyacetyl (PAC)-dA, acetyl (Ac)-dC, and iso-propyl-phenoxyacetyl (iPr-PAC)-dG - were developed to alleviate the problem of modifiers and labels not withstanding prolonged exposure to strongly alkaline deprotection conditions. Cleavage and deprotection can be achieved in 4 hours at room temperature with 0.05M potassium carbonate in methanol.
