Alignflow™ Flow Cytometry Alignment Beads for UV Lasers, 2.5 µm (Invitrogen™)

Molecular Probes® AlignFlow™ flow cytometry alignment beads are reliable references for aligning, focusing, and calibrating flow cytometers. The 2.5 µm Alignflow™ Flow Cytometry Alignment Beads for UV Lasers are fluorescent-dye infused microspheres that are optimally excitable between 350-370 nm with emission in the range of 400-470 nm, but that can also be excited by a violet laser.

View information for all flow cytometry calibration and size reference beads.

AlignFlow™ beads provide:

• Uniformity—very low FSC CV and intensity CV
• Consistency in production, creating ideal reference standards
• Confidence through reliable, optimal instrument performance
• Compatibility—use with any instrument

The AlignFlow™ beads are highly uniform with respect to size and fluorescence intensity, resulting in low FSC CV and intensity CV. The beads approximate the size, emission wavelength, and intensity of many biological samples and permit the calibration of the flow cytometer’s laser source, optics, and stream flow without wasting valuable and sensitive experimental material.

Bead Labeling
As with all of our flow cytometry standard microspheres, the AlignFlow™ beads are stained internally rather than on the surface. The dyes are therefore insulated from environmental interactions that could cause variable fluorescence output, resulting in excellent signal stability. These fluorescent polystyrene microspheres are supplied as suspensions packaged in dropper vials for convenient dispensation and are available in a choice of three colors (UV, blue, red) and two sizes (2.5 µm, 6.0 µm) to match your laser.

Notes:
The AlignFlow™ flow cytometry reference beads are provided in updated packaging that includes a Quick Reference Label that puts key information for product use at your fingertips.

These beads replace previous AlignFlow™ flow cytometry reference bead products. This particular product replaces AlignFlow™ Flow Cytometry Alignment Beads, 2.5 µm, for UV excitation (A7304).

DS-02 Matrix Standard Kit for the 31xx, 3500/xl, and 3730/xl DNA Analyzers (Applied Biosystems™)

The dye-labeled oligonucleotides included in the Matrix Standard DS-02 set (dR110, dR6G, dTAMRA™, dROX™, and LIZ®) are used to generate the 'multicomponent matrix' required for the SNaPshot® Multiplex Kit. The Data Collection software utilizes the multicomponent matrix to automatically correct for the spectral overlap in samples labeled with DS-02 dyes. The kit consists of one tube of matrix standard which is sufficient for a minimum of eight array runs (on a 24 capillary) or two array runs (on a 96 capillary).

Matrix standards do not need to be run with every set of sample injections. The standard only needs to be run once in order to generate a matrix file which is then applied to samples run under similar conditions. For more information on the use of matrix standards, refer to the instrument User Manual or Getting Started Guide.

Used with 3100, 3130/3130xl, 3500/3500xl, 3730/3730xl, and SeqStudio Genetic Analyzers and the SNaPshot Multiplex Kit.

AccuCheck Counting Beads (Invitrogen™)

AccuCheck Counting Beads are an efficient single-platform method for absolute cell counts that combines the advantages of direct flow cytometric immunophenotyping with the use of two different fluorescent beads (A and B beads). These two fluorospheres are used as a double internal standard for blood volume calculation. A known volume of AccuCheck Counting Beads is added to the same known volume of stained blood in a lyse-no-wash technique. The beads are counted along with cells. Since the concentration of beads is known, the number of cells per microliter (the absolute count) is obtained by relating the number of cells counted to the total number of fluorescent bead events. The cell number is then multiplied by the number of total fluorospheres per unit of volume. As the AccuCheck Counting Beads system contains two different fluorospheres in a known proportion, we can first assure the accuracy of the assay by verifying the proportion of both types of beads.

CHCA MALDI Matrix, Single-Use (Thermo Scientific™)

The Thermo Scientific CHCA MALDI Matrices are highly purified, recrystallized reagents packaged in convenient single-use tubes sufficient for analyzing up to 96 samples by matrix assisted laser desorption ionization.

Features of CHCA MALDI Matrices:

• Single-use packaging saves time and reduces waste
• Provides accurate quantity of matrix every time
• Applications: peptides, lipids, nucleotides

Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) matrices produce the cleanest mass spectrometric (MS) spectra when they are recrystallized and prepared daily, which is inconvenient and typically results in significant waste. The unique packaging of purified, recrystallized alpha-cyano-4-hydroxy-cinnamic acid (CHCA) MALDI matrices makes it easy to prepare high-quality MALDI reagents in minutes.

MALDI and electrospray ionization (ESI) are the most common methods to ionize peptides for MS analysis. MALDI is widely used because it is significantly faster than ESI and the ionized molecules are almost exclusively singly charged, making interpretation easier. Also, MALDI is readily automated and highly sensitive. This powerful method for MS peptide analysis is now easier to perform with our single-use, highly pure MALDI matrices that are exceptionally convenient to use.
