The Pierce Intact Protein Standard Mix contains a mixture of six highly pure recombinant proteins, including human IGF-1 LR3, human thioredoxin, Streptococcus dysgalactiae Protein G, Bovine Carbonic Anhydrase II, Streptococcus Protein AG (chimeric), and Escherichia coli Exo Klenow, expressed in bacteria. These proteins were selected based on their wide range of molecular weights, m/z distribution, and MS fragmentation patterns. Instrument Control Terbium TR-FRET Kit

Determine if Your Instrument is Set Up to Read Tb TR-FRET Assays
Setting up your instrument to read Tb TR-FRET is the first step in running a successful Tb TR-FRET assay. This kit allows you to quickly determine if your instrument is set up properly to read Tb TR-FRET assays. Simply add a small volume into separate wells, place the plate into the instrument and read. If the ratio of high to low control signal is below 2 the instrument may not be setup properly. If the ratio of high to low control signal is between 2 and 4 you can proceed with a Tb TR-FRET.

Use the Kit as a Positive Control in Tb TR-FRET Assays
When running Tb TR-FRET assays, add a small volume of the high and low controls to separate wells, on your assay plate. Place the plate into the instrument and read, according to instructions. A high to low control signal ratio of between 2 and 4 offers you the confidence that the instrument is performing well.

The Ion PGM Calibration Standard is a small panel consisting of known sequence content with comprehensive and uniform representation of long homopolymers up to 10-mers. The Ion PGM Calibration Standard can be used with the Ion 314, Ion 316, and Ion 318 workflows for de novo research sequencing applications to allow for greater accuracy of base-calling.

AccuCheck Counting Beads (Invitrogen™)

AccuCheck Counting Beads are an efficient single-platform method for absolute cell counts that combines the advantages of direct flow cytometric immunophenotyping with the use of two different fluorescent beads (A and B beads). These two fluorospheres are used as a double internal standard for blood volume calculation. A known volume of AccuCheck Counting Beads is added to the same known volume of stained blood in a lyse-no-wash technique. The beads are counted along with cells. Since the concentration of beads is known, the number of cells per microliter (the absolute count) is obtained by relating the number of cells counted to the total number of fluorescent bead events. The cell number is then multiplied by the number of total fluorospheres per unit of volume. As the AccuCheck Counting Beads system contains two different fluorospheres in a known proportion, we can first assure the accuracy of the assay by verifying the proportion of both types of beads.

DS-02 Matrix Standard Kit for the 31xx, 3500/xl, and 3730/xl DNA Analyzers (Applied Biosystems™)

The dye-labeled oligonucleotides included in the Matrix Standard DS-02 set (dR110, dR6G, dTAMRA™, dROX™, and LIZ®) are used to generate the 'multicomponent matrix' required for the SNaPshot® Multiplex Kit. The Data Collection software utilizes the multicomponent matrix to automatically correct for the spectral overlap in samples labeled with DS-02 dyes. The kit consists of one tube of matrix standard which is sufficient for a minimum of eight array runs (on a 24 capillary) or two array runs (on a 96 capillary).

Matrix standards do not need to be run with every set of sample injections. The standard only needs to be run once in order to generate a matrix file which is then applied to samples run under similar conditions. A critical parameter for success in this workflow is the ability to consistently detect the TMT fragment ions across the 11 channels of multiplexing. This standard has been specifically designed as a tool to monitor LC-MS/MS system performance for TMT quantitation and MS method optimization and validation.

The Pierce TMT11plex Yeast Digest Standard consists of four congenic strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (a parental line, BY4741, and three lines lacking the non-essential proteins Met6, His4, or Ura2) labeled in triplicate (knock-out strains) or duplicate (parental strain) with TMT11-plex label reagents (see figure). The knock-out strains are used in combination with the parental strain to enable comparison of peptide and protein abundance in the deleted and parental strains to monitor system performance for quantitation.

In addition to routine quality control assessment, the standard can also be used as a method development tool to measure the accuracy, precision, and dynamic range of different MS approaches, including optimization of offline fractionation, chromatography, MS acquisition, or data analysis settings.

The multifunctional applications for this standard will allow more reproducible TMT quantitation from day-to-day and experiment-to-experiment.

Due to their narrow emission profiles, beads of two different fluorescent colors exhibit minimal spectral overlap, and little or no color compensation is needed when setting up for multicolor experiments.

The Fluorescent Amidite Matrix Standards are used to generate the multicomponent matrix required when analyzing 6-FAM™, TET™, HEX™, TAMRA™ and ROX™-labeled DNA fragments. The standard can be used on the Applied Biosystems 310 Genetic Analyzers. The Data Collection Software for these instruments uses the multicomponent matrix to automatically analyze the five different colored fluorescent dye-labeled samples in a single capillary.

Matrix assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) matrices produce the cleanest mass spectrometric (MS) spectra when they are recrystallized and prepared daily, which is inconvenient and typically results in significant waste.
