Gibco® Rat Fetal Neural Stem Cells enable superior performance in both adherent cell culture in a matrix and suspended neurosphere cultures. The cells are isolated from the cortex of Sprague-Dawley at day E14 of gestation. Each vial contains 2 × 10^6 viable cells⁄ml. For optimal growth performance, we recommend culturing and expanding the cells in StemPro® NSC SFM (sku #: A1050901) media. Upon proliferation in StemPro® NSC SFM, >75% of the cells retain their undifferentiated Phenotype and can be differentiated into Neurons, Astrocytes and Oligodendrocytes.

Neural Stem Cells (NSC) are self renewing multipotent stem cells of nervous system that can differentiate into neurons, oliogdendrocyte and astrocyte. Multipotent neural stem cells can be isolated from fetal or adult central nervous system or derived from embryonic stem cells. In development, neurogenesis takes place third to fourth week of gestation and continued in specific region of our central nervous system. Because of their property to generate neurons and glial, NSC is a valuable source not only for neuroscience but also for clinical use to treat neurodegenerative disease or neurological disorder. Adult derived NSC tends to be regionally restricted and have limited plasticity compared to fetal derived NSC.

GIBCO® Rat Fetal Neural Stem Cells provide superior performance in both adherent cell culture in a matrix and suspended neurosphere cultures. About neural stem cells
Neural Stem Cells (NSC) are self-renewing multipotent stem cells of nervous system that can differentiate into neurons, oliogdendrocytes, and astrocytes. Multipotent neural stem cells can be isolated from fetal or adult central nervous system tissue, or derived from embryonic stem cells. In development, neurogenesis takes place in the third to fourth week of gestation and continues in specific regions of the central nervous system. Because of their capacity to generate neurons and glial cells, neural stem cells are a valuable resource, not only for neuroscience, but also for the potential treatment of neurodegenerative disease and neurological disorders. Adult-derived NSCs tend to be regionally restricted and have limited plasticity compared to fetal-derived NSC.

StemPro™ Neural Stem Cells (Gibco™)

StemPro® Neural Stem Cells are cryopreserved human fetal brain-derived neural stem cells (NSCs). These cells are manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacturing standards in a California-licensed facility and are available for Research Use Only. They are isolated and expanded in culture to passage 4 under a low oxygen (ischemic tolerant, proprietary manufacturing process using FBS-supplemented media and then cryopreserved in an animal origin-free cryopreservation medium. The cells are supplied at a concentration of 1 x 106 viable cells/vial. A Certificate of Analysis is available for each lot that documents the quality control specifications, test results, and donor information. These cells have no observed tumorigenicity/toxicity in GLP-compliant animal studies.

Immature, High Potency, Low Oxygen-Cultured NSCs
StemPro® Neural Stem Cells are derived from human fetal brain from qualified, traceable donors. The cells are isolated, cultured, and expanded under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacturing standards in a California-licensed facility using a proprietary Reduced Oxygen Tension manufacturing process. Manufacture of cells in a reduced oxygen tension environment results in higher yields of highly potent immature stem cells compared to cells expanded in normal oxygen culture conditions.

Rat Glial Precursor Cells (Gibco™)

Ready-to use system: Upon proliferation in StemPro® NSC-SFM, >80% of the cells retain their undifferentiated Phenotype, good post-thaw cell viability (≥ 50%), and supports differentiation into Oligodendrocytes and Astrocytes. Gibco® Rat Glial Precursor Cells (GPC) offer researchers ready access to high quality cells and eliminate the time and effort to isolate these highly sensitive cells in house. Glial Precursor Cells are isolated from the cortex of newborn Sprague-Dawley rats. The cells are isolated under sterile conditions, expanded in complete StemPro® NSC SFM, and cryopreserved at passage 2 (P2). Each vial contains 1 × 106 cells/ml viable cells (post-thaw) that can be expanded once to give >2 fold increase of cells. Upon proliferation in StemPro® NSC SFM, >80% of cells retain their undifferentiated Phenotype and can be differentiated into Oligodendrocytes and Astrocytes. Glial Precursor Cells are the restricted progenitors, and the majority of their down stream progeny are Oligodendrocytes and Astrocytes. Oligodendrocytes produce myelin to protect neurons and secure proper signal transduction. Demyelination is involved with critical diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, Addison-Schilder Disease (ALD) etc.

With GIBCO® Human Neural Stem Cells (H9-Derived), we allow neuroscience researchers who do not have access to human embryonic stem cells or human tissues the use of the hNSC by removing the complicated isolation or derivation process. The cells are derived from the NIH approved H9 (WA09) human embryonic stem cells (hESCs). Each vial of GIBCO® hNSCs contains>1 million viable cells that can be propagated as an adherent culture in complete StemPro® NSC SFM. GIBCO® hNSCs retain their normal female human karyotype and their potential to differentiate into neurons and glial cells after multiple passages.
